He was a native of Byrdstown, Tenn., and had been a resident of Muncie for 44 years, moving here from Pickett County, Tenn. He retired 19 years ago after having been employed at Muncie Malleable for 13 years. Prior to that, he had been employed at Warner Gear for 40 years.
Mr. Bilbrey is survived by his wife, Stella F.; four sons, Leonard, James, J.T. and Herbert Bilbrey Jr., all of Muncie; two daughter, Mrs. Willie (Sue) Beaty, Muncie, and Mrs. R. (Mary) Alsip, Albany; five stepsons, Fred Wright, Tallahasee, Fla., Kenneth Wright, Chicago, Ill., and Dewey, Paul, and Ernest Wright, all of Louisville, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Edith Byrd, Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Ben and Reese Bilbrey, both of Brydstown, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Harmon, Mrs. Cindy Wooten, and Mrs. Molly Craig, all of Muncie; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Talbott Funeral Home, Albany, Ky., with burial in the Campbell Cemetery, Chanute, Tenn. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday. The family will receive friends at the Parson Mortuary from 6-9 p.m. today.
