She was the daughter of William Edward and Bertha Jane Wright Horstman.
She retired from the Otisco Post Office after several years of service as an Assistant Post Master. Ella Mae was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church a former Pink Lady volunteer at the St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin Edward Helzer on July 23, 1980 and a brother, Hern W. Horstman.
Funeral services held 2014 at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Emmanuel Cemetery.
