Obituary: Harry Wilbur Hamlin was born near Quitman in Nodaway County, Missouri, January 7, 1861, where he grew to manhood and on May 1, 1881 he was married to Miss Erminnie Jones. To this union ten children: six sons and four daughters were born.

In 1888 he brought his family to Kansas, settling in Logan County, where he remained for several years, then going to Crawford County, and in 1919 coming to Jackson County, whre he has since made his home. In early life he became a member of the M. E. Church in Missouri, but when he came west never made any membership transfer, and on September 2, this year, he ws "buried with his Lord" in baptism, with his wife, his son, Ralph, and his grandson, Kenneth, and became a member of the Holton Christian Church.

He has been disabled for a number of years, and through all his intense suffering he has exemplified great Christian character by his patience in every condition. Even in the most intense pain he always seemed happy. On Wednesday afternoon, December 16, he quietly slipped away, having reached the age of 81 years 11 months, and 9 days.
