Visiting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, French Settlement, on Monday, April 23, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church on Tuesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Bishop Robert W. Muench. Graveside service at St. Theresa of Avila Cemetery at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Allen Kinkead Sr. and Jeanne Comeaux Kinkead.
Pallbearers will be Joe Aime, Larry Cornett, Al Dupuis, Scott Eaves, R.J. Guitreau, Ronnie Perault, Donnell Savoy and Dutch Vicknair. Honorary pallbearers are David Cambre, Vincent Genre, Warren Lass, Eddie Millet, George Weintritt and Lloyd Young.
He was valedictorian of Catholic High School. He was a Catholic priest for more than 50 years, serving as pastor at various churches in the Baton Rouge Diocese. He loved to travel, visiting every continent in the world. He loved opera and classical music in addition to art. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 50 years and was chaplain of French Settlement chapter for 18 years. He extensively collected religious art. Rev. Kinkead will be dearly missed by the parishioners he served.
