Nora came to eastern NE from Pennsylvania on a wagon train when she was four years old. Her maiden name was Flack.
She told the story of a twelve year old boy ( a member of their party)who shot and killed an Indian boy. I don't know if it was accidental or on purpose. None the less, the Indians surrounded the wagon train and demanded that they release the boy to them If the refused, they would all be killed. They relinquished the boy. The tribe took him and wagon train moved on. They never heard from him again.

See George for some add'l info. One of the children of George and Nora Strobridge, Harvey, married Roy Mathews's sister, Florence. The lived most of their lives in CO Springs. Later in life, they moved to Northern California to be close to several of their children who lived in the area. They had eight children--George, Erlene, Harold, Marvin, Boyd, Wilma, Christina and Donald.
These are all "double cousins" to Dallas Mathews.
