MUNNSVILLE - G. Dale Russ, 70, of Stockbridge Hill Road, passed away Sunday morning, April 17, 2011, at his residence, following a long battle with kidney cancer.
Born in Morrisville on April 27, 1940, he was the son of Donald H. and Vera Craft Russ. A lifelong resident of the area, Mr. Russ was educated in Morrisville-Eaton Schools. He married Belle Cook in Perryville on Sept. 27, 1967.
Prior to his retirement in 2005, Dale had been employed by T. H. Kinsella Inc. in Fayetteville as a heavy equipment operator and had previously been employed by Oneida Limited Silversmiths. Mr. Russ enjoyed farming and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are his wife, Belle; one daughter and son-in-law, Prudence and William DeGroat of Pratts Hollow; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Michelle Russ of Munnsville, Scott Russ of Oneida and Grover and Kristy Russ of Munnsville; eight grandchildren, Prudence Russ, Lucas and Joshua DeGroat, Kyle and Katelyn Russ, Dylan, Gabby and Cole Russ; one sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Donald Decker of Eaton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Eugene and Earleen Russ of Munnsville and Joseph Russ of Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephen Graziano, Karen Litwak, Denise Fontana and staff for the care and concern given to Dale and his family and also to Roger and Debbie Tucker for the care given and love shown during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, with the Rev. Neil Coe, officiating. Interment will be made on Thursday in Stockbridge Cemetery, at a time to be determined by the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral service. Contributions, in Dale's name, may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
