Daily American Republic, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Thursday, April 10, 1997, Page 6 A, Col. 2: Ruth Irene Todd Bilbrey, 84, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at her home. She had been ill since November. Mrs. Bilbrey was born May 9, 1912, in Butler County. She had worked as sales clerk for Roth's department store 29 years. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher 30 years and treasurer 17 years. She was an active charter member of the United Gospel Rescue Mission Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included reading, quilting and crocheting. On Jan. 21, 1943, she was married to William A. Bilbrey in Greenville. He died Oct. 13, 1987. Survivors also include two daughters, Joann Morgan and Carol Luedemann, both of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Carol Ann Carl, Lisa Stricklin and Robin Thies, all of Poplar Bluff; three great-grandchildren, Gary Lee Carl Jr., Melanie Stricklin and Morgan Stricklin, all of Poplar Bluff; and one sister, Bertie Collins of Ellsinore. Visitation will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles Hannah and the Rev. Jim Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the United Gospel Rescue Mission Ladies Auxiliary or Grant Avenue Baptist Church.
