see my bio p 30∼Thomas Stevenson, born May 12, 1835, who, on the outbreak of the Civil War, was a resident of Camden, and engaged in the wholesale drug business in Philadelphia. Relinquishing his business, he entered the army as second lieutenant in the Eighth New Jersey Regiment. He served in the Army
of the Potomac through the Peninsular campaign, and was engaged in the battles of Fredericksburg and Second Bull Run. He rose to the rank of captain, but was killed at the battle of Chancellorsville, May 3, 1863, and was buried on the field of battle.
Enlisted on 5/19/1862 as a 1st Lieutenant.
On 5/19/1862 he was commissioned into "G" Co. NJ 8th Infantry
He was Killed on 5/3/1863 at Chancellorsville, VA
