Robert Allen married Martha Work in Clermont County, Ohio on March 1, 1804.

"Robert Allen moved to Brown County, Ohio, March 1796, near Georgetown. In 1804, he married Martha Work. She gave birth of one son James, Jan 15th, 1805, and, in a few days, she died near where Georgetown now stands. In 1809, he married Mary Waterman.

He acted as magistrate from 1814 until 1821 and was then elected Sheriff; and in 1823 he was re-elected. He built the first Carding machine and Oil mill. In Georgetown, he held several offices of importance, both civil and military. He served a six month's tour in the War of 1812. He died near Georgetown, Ohio, on January 7, 1853."

In 1812, Robert Allen was a Trustee of the Roads District in Clark Township, Brown County, Ohio.

When the "reformatory" movement of Alexander Campbell and his co-believers swept over the country, the majority of the members of this congregation [the Georgetown Christian Church] became converted to the new faith, organized a Society November 16, 1834, and carried over with them the property of the former Christian Church. Among the 16 original members who formed this new society were Robert Allen and wife Mary Allen. On March 8, 1835, the first Church election resulted in the choice of Robert Allen for Elder.
