William "Bill" D. Jamieson, 81, of Mountain Home, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at his home, following an illness.

A viewing will be held from noon until 1:30 p.m., on Monday, Jan. 9, at Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Bill came to Mountain Home in February of 1951 with a small group of men to re-open Mountain Home Air Force Base. There, he met and married the love of his life, Gayle E. McNamar. They were married Sept. 18, 1955.

He worked for Intermountain Gas for 10 years, White Motor Company for 10 years and then went to work at Mountain Home Air Force Base in 1972, where he worked until he retired in 1986. He was a member of the Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department and the Elmore County Sheriff's Department Volunteer Deputies.

He loved doing things with his family and traveling in their RV. They were able to travel to all 48 contiguous states and made sure to go to the Oregon coast at least once a year.

In their younger years, they loved square dancing. He taught himself woodworking after he retired and loved making things for his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Gayle, of Mountain Home; his son, Clifford (Nani) Jamieson, of Mountain Home; his daughter, Carol (Tim) Fitch, of Nampa; three grandchildren: Adia (Junior) Wright, of Kuna, Crystal Jamieson and her companion, Chris Powley, of Boise, and Carson Fitch of Nampa; and three great-grandchildren: MariElla Wright and MacKaydian and Caleb Powley.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be missed each and every day by his family, which he adored.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bill's memory be made to the Mountain Home Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 10, Mountain Home, ID 83647.
