Elijah Dowell FAG # 177325500, Joseph Newton Fox FAG #47960698, Thomas Gardiner FAG # 174663916, Thomas Thomas FAG #56840518, Thomas Johnson FAG # 15519989, John Howlett FAG # 154414045, and John Wimp FAG #30181373, served in the Revolutionary War. John Shacklett served as a Private in Captain Nicholas Shinn's Company of Rangers. Richard Ashcraft served as an Indian scout in western Pennsylvania along the Monongahela River serving in Captain Bazil Bowell's Company. John Baptist Cambron served as a Private in the Virginia State Line Artillery Division - Virginia State Troop: Crump, Commander, Military Warrant # 410 recorded in Kentucky Land Office. Elijah Dowell served as a private in the 3rd Virginia Regiment of Militia, under Capt. John Lee, part of General Edward Stevens small Brigade of 600 men from the frontier counties of Bedford, Rockbridge, Augusta and Botetourt, that stood in the Americas second line at the battle of Guilford Court House. Joseph Fox served as a private in the 11th VA Regiment of the Continental Army under Captain David Steel. He spent the winter of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge. For his service he received 336 acres of land in Perry Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania, patent 15, January 15, 1814. He chose a grassy knoll on his property as his final resting place. Thomas Gardiner was a sailor on the ship "Defense" from 5/22/1777 - 7/7/1777 ("Archives of Maryland"). He was paid a bounty by the State for making salt on 7/15/1782 Maryland Archives 48:214). Thomas Thomas served as a Pvt. 3rd Regiment Maryland Line. Thomas Johnson served in a Frederick County, MD. volunteer company of associates. John Howlett served as a Private in the Maryland 1st, 3rd. and 7th Regt's. under Captains Beatty, Price, and Beall. John Wimp served as Sergeant in Captain James Floyd's Company of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia, commanded by Colonel William Chambers. John was a Mason and frequently spoke of having met General George Washington in the Masonic lodge at Fairfax.
