Beginning in May 2020, I have begun adding burial records for people who are found in the Geauga County Vital Records Death Records compiled by the now late Geauga County historian Jeanette "Teeter" Grosvenor. These individuals died in Geauga County Ohio for the most part. As Indicated on the memorials, at the time of creating the memorials their burial locations are unknown to me. This is in addition to the work that I have done on the township cemeteries in the county over the past 9 years. I am also updating existing memorials according to these same vitals (birth, death, and marriage records for Geauga County)

If you cannot find someone you are looking for on findagrave in a cemetery, try clicking the tab "not buried in a cemetery" on the main homepage. If you know where these people are buried, please let me know and I will edit the burial locations. This is in an effort to place peoples memorials on, and link them with their families, and ultimately find where they are buried. I check the Find A Grave database before I put these memorials on so as not to duplicate other contributors' work.

I have been working on cemeteries in both Trumbull & Geauga counties. This area of Ohio is part of the Connecticut Western Reserve. Many of the original settlers came from Connecticut; many on foot!

A lot of the birth and death information I have been able to get online from Death Certificate Records at familysearch.org, which provides images of the actual Ohio Death Certificates from 1908-1953. This also gives women's maiden names, and their mothers' maiden names, etc, which is very helpful to those doing geneology and trying to trace their family.

Many of the records for Trumbull county came from "Trumbull County Cemetery Inscriptions 1800-1930", published 1983, compiled by the Trumbull County Chapter of the OGS. This book contains the tireless work done by Mrs. Grace Winnagle, who traversed the cemeteries in Trumbull County in the 1920s and 30s. Other burials were subsequently updated following her work added by other people in the 1940s.

Since January 2011, I have also been working on burials in Geauga County, Ohio; using records compiled by the Geauga County Genealogy Society; and computerized by county historian and Findagrave Contributor Teeter Grosvenor.

For Geauga Co., the DODs on the Cemetery Records may differ slightly from the DODs found on the Death Certificates found at Familysearch.org. The death dates given in memorials I create are those appearing in the Cemetery Records, and some of those may indicate the date of burial, not the actual date of death. Also, most of the birth/death locations appearing in my Geauga Memorials are from death certificates at Familysearch.org. A few are from the Geauga Vital Records info compiled by Teeter Grosvenor.

Also, at times, spelling of the same name appears a couple of different ways. For example, for the name "Gilmore", it appears as "Gilmore" and "Gillmore".

I have tried to enter the info into Find-A-Grave exactly as it appears on the Cemetery Records provided me by Jeanette Grosvenor. In my limited experience, I have found that Census Records, Death Certificates, etc. are not always spelled correctly, on the original document when they were originally written decades ago and even over a century ago, and subsequent transcriptions reflect how they were written originally. I apologize for any confusion in spelling.

If you would like a transfer of a memorial I have created, please don't hesitate to ask. I will be more than happy to transfer the memorial to you. If there are any corrections that need to be made (i.e. dates, locations, etc.), please let me know and I will gladly make these changes.

However, please do not ask me to add information that is copyrighted, such as a direct copy and paste from another website. Please cite your sources so that I can include these.

If you ask for a photo of a grave, a plot location would be appreciated. Where these have been made available on the records I have obtained info from, I have included these.
