Although we currently live in Columbus, Ohio, my husband and I grew up in northwestern Indiana. My mother's parents emigrated from Croatia in the early 1900s, and my father's family was rooted in Kentucky. He grew up in Georgetown, SC, and Indianapolis, Ind. After my mother's death, I found some old family photographs and been trying to put names and stories to the faces ever since. My husband was adopted, has no interest in opening closed doors, and is somewhat bewildered by all this, but his knowledge of American history has been very helpful to me. Otherwise, we both enjoy gardening, music, and reading.
