Janell Nickols
RE: J. Reynolds Quesenbury

The relationship is rather complex. Charnelcie (Nelcie) Alston, who married Albert Quesenbury is my second cousin 1X removed of the husband of my great grand aunt!!!
My aunt's name was Charneclie Wheat nee Robbins. There was a family legend about the name, so I began researching it. Consequently, I have found at least 9 Charnelcies in the family, as well as others who otherwise knew the family and named their daughter Charnelcie. It is spelled a few different ways.
I have not yet been able to find how the name came to be. The family story that it came from an Indian in Arizona and meant "no name" has not panned out, as the name goes back as far as 1821 with Charnelcie Bettis. The Bettis family, along with an unknown Alston (Charnelcie Alston's father) went from North Carolina to Wayne Country MO. Then some went on to Franklin County, Arkansas.
There is another Charnelcie Alston in Franklin - most likely a former slave of the Alston family. She married Martin Oliver. I am researching them as well, which has been extremely interesting!!
My family tree is "Osborne Family Tree."
I would love to hear more information if you have it - pictures would be wonderful!!!
