RE: McCartney
Dson

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps you can help me sort this out.

Emily McCartney Akins is my ggg grandmother. I am descended from her daughter, Laura Belle Huchens, who married James Halley.

I find a lot of discrepancies about Emily McCartney Akins being married to Benjamin Hutchins. I'll try to spell them out.

Laura Belle's marriage license shows that her mother's name was McCartney and that her father was Harry Huchens. It is assumed that Emily McCartney Akins was her mother.

I believe it was Emily's older sister, Elizabeth, that was married to Benjamin Hutchens. I don't know why, but it seems she alternated between the name Elizabeth and Emily.

Their marriage license shows "Emily". The 1870 census shows wife "Eliza", with children John and Emma, the children of his first wife, Dorca Hodgins.

There is an obituary cite here that says "Emily" McCartney Hutchins, wife of Ben, died in 1885:
http://www.ingenweb.org/inrandolph/Newspaper/Obituaries/Hutchens.htm

Yet, the find-a-grave entry for that person shows "Elizabeth", and improperly cites John and Emma as her children:
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSsr=41&GScid=2181960&GRid=59867963&

Laura Belle's birth in 1866 doesn't match Benjamin Hutchins timeline, but everybody seems to assume that Ben Hutchins was her father and that her mother, Emily McCartney Akins, was married to Ben when it seems it was actually her much older sister...

My big mystery is "Who is Laura Belle's father?". Who was Harry Huchens? I do have DNA matches to the Hutchins line, so I assume it is the same family, but probably not Benjamin...

Any thoughts?

Polite and kind?? I think you are a rockstar, Dave! You have added SO MUCH to the visual history of Indiana, as well as written with your added profiles.
I moved from Indiana to Missouri in order to take care of my mother who has dementia, so I'm not so faithful to my Indiana work. I sometimes go back to research the profiles I created in Economy Cemetery, but mainly my focus has been on local ones.
I smiled when I saw that it was you I had to contact. We made a pretty good team back in the day. Thanks for your note back to me. It's always good to connect with such a passionate cemetery trekker.

I do heartily thank you for creating memorials; I see your name on so many grave memorials I visit. When I look at this one , I see the name Cunningham. On the picture of the marker, I see Clevenger. I have an interest in both the Clevengers and the Cunninghams. Can this be clarified/untangled ? Thanks so much.Ruth Brown Egan Find A Grave contibutor #485529432. e mail: eganruth8@gmail.com. p.s. I am aware that I sent you the marriage record for the Ogle or Okle that married Betty. If you noticed the parents on the marriage record Frank and Betty support the ancestry.com link of a Henry Ogle Meeks and Betty, instead of the son of William Anderson Meeks. I was trying to prove that this find a grave memorial is not for Okle Meeks the son of William Anderson Meeks. Alane

Dave, I would like to send you the information I have as far as sources that confirm in my mind that there are two Okle Meeks that are within a 10 year birth range. Would you like me to send those here or would you perhaps give me your email address. I can do it whichever way you would like. Alane

Dave,
Thank you for responding to my message. You mentioned in your answer that he had a funeral home card. What is that and what information is given on the card? I would love to know more about your reason for stating his father as William Anderson Meeks. Hope to hear from you.

I saw on the Find A Grave Memorial# 102534569 for Okle Meeks his father is listed as William Anderson Meeks. On his marriage record it gives his parents as Frank Meeks and Bessie Boyd. William Anderson Meeks who was born in Kentucky does have a son named Okle Meeks but he is born in 1907. In 1930 Census he is listed with his parents in Kentucky where this Okle or Ogle Meeks is listed with his wife in Indidana. I would love to communicate with you about this problem. Thank you, Alane Beck

Thanks for the transfer of Bobby's memorial. We were contacted about his dad's memorial so was able to connect them. Since his parents were divorced, they are not connected.

Thanks again,

Thank you for fulfilling my photo request at Liber Cemetery, and also for photographing the rest of the Hilton family member markers also. It is sad to see how many of the old markers are deteriorating, so it is wonderful to have a photo before they are completely undecipherable!
Sorry it took so long to let you know this; I moved across country and have been remiss in attending to my Find A Grave correspondence.

RE: Sarah Wheeler Moore
The last wheeler sibling I can't confirm information in is Emily. She was born in 1828. I think she may have married William Barr but am not sure at all. Here is my lineage
Melanie (me)
Leigh (my father)
Harry
Jacob whose mother was Sarah holderman. Jacob was the 13th child of 15.
Charles Wesley
That is where I am stuck. I've worked with the Greensboro library and they had no luck either.
The family was Methodist.
What is your wheeler connection ?

RE: Sarah Wheeler Moore
thank you so much, this solves one mystery.

do you know where john marker is buried? i am trying to figure out where they lived in 1900. havent been able to find a 1900 census record that matches up. hoping that knowing john's death date will help with the search engine.

i have one last sibling of my great grandfather to figure out now. 1 left of 15 is pretty good odds. the biggest mystery is finding their great grandfather's north carolina trail. never give up:)
