You are most welcome. It was a privilege to add a photograph to a fallen graver's memorial. Feel free to use it as you wish.

thank you, I love family history. It is the most important part of our future, remembering were we all came from.
thanks again

RE: ALINE HOLCOMB GANDY - NEWBERRY at ELMWOOD
I'm not sure what you want regarding her - I put a photo of her grave marker on the memorial.

RE: CARRIE VIRGINIA MIMS GANDY # 162768139
The gravesite picture won't go to the 'top' because the photo of the obit isn't a 'grave' type, and non-grave photos automatically get chosen over grave type photos.

Carrie Virginia Mims Gandy 1901-1975 at Elmwood
I went looking for her today. The office told me she's buried in block 33, lot 379. I found the lot, and there is no marker for her. Nearby are these people:
T. A. Holcomb, 1931-2009
Tinie P. Holcomb, 1935-2015
Aline H. Newberry, 1927-1999

There was nobody else very close. No sign of a marker for Carrie. I posted a photo of the lot on her memorial.

RE: TURNING AROUND THE OBITUARY
Turned and reposted. Delete yours when you get a chance.

I use a simple little picture editor called Irfanview, I wrote a sort of primer for it that I've posted on FG pages a couple of times - great little editor for turning, cropping, and the sorts of things that are helpful when you take a lot of photos while walking rows like I do - they always need a bit of work to look good.

Looks like the obit image is rotated 90 degrees, making it hard to read. I can fix that and reupload it if you like, if you don't have software to do it.

We looked at the death certificate for a while and can't read the parents' names either. I did find her marriage record, and to me it reads MRS, not MISS - I added an image that shows an entry adjacent to her with a lady that was a MISS.

At this point, I guess your next step is to pay for her obituary. Hope you find what you are looking for!

RE: ASENITH CUMMINGS - GANDY at Elmwood
Fascinating! I did some digging on Ancestry, and I'm seeing the same two ladies with almost the same name and birth/death dates. I do think they are two people, from the data, but it's certainly confusing.

As far as death certificates, you can get them in Alabama from this office. I've done a couple; they are usually pretty informative. However, the problem can be that the people around at the time of death might not know parents names and the like, so it's possible there won't be any new info. Worth a shot, though.

Ethel Savely photo request
I finished Grandview cemetery a few months ago, it took almost a year to take photos of every marker and I did not find one for Ethel. I have posted her death certificate on her memorial and I did find one for Jake Willis Savely, born Nov 25, 1883; died May 6, 1946 in San joaquin, CA. Can send you a copy if you would like, his father was Benjamin Franklin Savely. jcplumm@aol.com

RE: ROBERT WILKES GANDY
I actually found those two while walking the rows a couple of weeks ago, but I've gotten behind on uploading photos - have about 1000 in my files - and just got to that part of the block this morning. Just lucky! Glad I was able to help you, and I'm keeping an eye out for any marker that says Gandy.

RE: GANDY'S AT ELMWOOD
I was driving through Elmwood today looking for another request and saw a family stone that said Gandy. Photographed everyone there, uploaded the photos and created a couple of new memorials too.

Gandys at Elmwood Cemetery
Hello! I saw the requests you put up for the three Gandys at Elmwood today. I'd be happy to get their photographs, if you can call the cemetery office at (205) 251-3114 and get the block and lot for this request, and send it to me. I would do it myself, but I can only get 2 per visit, but I have a big backlog and your requests are pretty far down the list, so this will get your pictures a lot faster (like, years faster!).

Also, the memorial you created for WH Gandy Sr.,

https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=gandy&GSiman=1&GScid=22674&GRid=182954659&

is a duplicate of one you created last year that has more data

https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=gandy&GSiman=1&GScid=22674&GRid=168662485&

so you might want to delete that one.

I was at the cemetery today and took pictures of Nona and Everett's marker and added them to Find A. Grave. Chester is buried in the same section, but could not find his marker. I will look again.

Assuming that the link was William Powers dad. I liked them together.

As for the question about Mr Richardson, I would not change it. I would put a note on the memorial so that people searching will know that it is or is not who they are looking for. That is my opinion.

RE: OSCAR L. WHITE at ELMWOOD
Glad to have helped with this photo! I really enjoy visiting the cemeteries, and helping preserve history. It's an endless project, but I know others have helped me with my relatives, and it makes me happy to help others, especially when I can fulfill requests, though simply walking the rows and taking a couple of hundred photos on a sunny day is a pleasant and productive way to spend the day.

By the way, I see that you have several other photo requests at Elmwood. If you can call the cemetery office at (205) 251-3114 and get the block and lot for these requests, and update the memorial with that information or send it to me, I can try to get them photographed. I would do it myself, but I can only get 2 per visit, and I always ask for the two oldest requests, so this will get your pictures a lot faster.

Thanks for calling to my attention the duplicate memorial for Ralph Gandy. Sorry I have no further information on him as this was his obit that was published in the newspaper. Mary
