Alexander Lawrence Watson
Hi there,

I see you posted a grave index for Alexander Lawrence Watson, dob 12/8/1905 and dod 2/4/1985.

The grave says he was Grand Master in Masonic Temple?

Can you tell me if he was the shipbuilder from BC and which temple was he a part of?

I think he may have been my biological grandpa, do you have any other pictures?

Thx

Donald K Burroughs
Samuel G.H. Gonyer
Samuel G.H. Gonyer was a half Uncle of mine. He was the son of Christena Burroughs who was married prior to becoming a Burroughs by marriage. Her first husband's name was George Gonyer who died when Samuel and his Elizabeth were very young leaving their mother a young widow with two young children. She then married Samuel James Burroughs who raised them as his own along with my dad and his brothers. If you don't mind, I have added a service portrait of him.

Ian Gill
Edwin George William Sait
Hi Susan,
My name is Ian Gill and my email is iajgill@gmail.com
My great-grandmother was Mary Ann Warner who married Edwin Sait in Worcestershire, England, in 1864 and they had a son, Edwin George William Sait, in 1867.
Edwin's father died in 1868 and Mary Ann took her son Edwin to Hong Kong and married Edward Newman (a good friend of Edwin through their P&O connections) in 1869.
The family moved to Chefoo, China, in 1873 and stayed for nearly 20 years, with Edward and Mary Ann raising 4 of their own children besides Edwin.
Edward died in 1883 and Mary Ann in 1891.
Edwin migrated to Canada around 1891, married Elizabeth and the 1921 Canada census shows they had 2 daughters, Dorothy and Winifred.
I am the grandson of Edward's and Mary Ann's first son Frank. I am keen to contact Dorothy or Winifred if they are alive or their descendants. Hope you can help me. Ian

Alfred Walter Bryan, Find A Grave Memorial# 56206567
Hi Susan, Ive made a couple of edit suggestions for your review. Private Bryans year of birth is listed on his attestation paper as 1886,rather than 1896, and he appears in the 1901 English census as a 14 year old. Also, since he was on sentry duty at Courcelette when he was killed, I have suggested his place of death as Courcelette. Dont know if you agree, but thought Id pass these suggestions on. Ann

Hi Susan,Mary Howitt Thomson had 3 children 2 girls and a son who was my cousin's grandad.
I think that her mother,Mary Kyle Greer who died 1922,could have been buried in the same plot.I would think that her father,John Thomson,is also buried in that cemetery but I don't know when he died. Regards Susan

Istad

Hello Susan.
I have a bit of a puzzle that I hope you can advise me on.
I found a death certificate for
Florence Istad Age: 74 Death Date: 4 Dec 1974
Place of Death: Vancouver.
Registration #: 1974-09-018308: bca #: B13338: gsu #: 2050342.

Plus I found a
British Columbia Death Index: 1872 to 1979
Name: Sigurd Istad
Birth: 1897
Death Date: 1 Oct 1959 Age: 61
Place of Death: Vancouver
Registration #: 1959-09-011346
bca #: B13243
gsu #: 2033300
I see Sigurd is buried at Ocean View Burial Park
Burnaby, Greater Vancouver Regional District
British Columbia, Canada.
I am assuming they were married but I find no marriage record for them.

I'm not familiar with the area. I don't know where I should try to find obituaries for either of them. I don't know if Florence is buried in the Ocean View Burial Park and it just wasn't registered.
I also don't know if you are related to them in some way from reading your bio on findagrave.
I'm hoping you can advise me.
Sincerely,
RenieMN

FALL PROVES FATAL TO
AGED SULLIVAN INVENTOR
----------------------------------
JERRY LOCKWOOD SUCCOMBS AT THE
NATIONAL SOLDIER’S HOME IN DANVILLE

Following a fracture of his right thigh, sustained little more than a week ago, when he fell at his home, as he started down the steps, enroute to a physician’s office for medicine, Jeremiah Lockwood, 78 years of age, an inventor of note, and a veteran of the Civil War, died at eleven o’clock, Tuesday morning, at the National Soldiers’ Home in Danville, Ill.

He had been confined to his bed, since the injury, and was moved to the Soldiers’ Home on a cot. He was in failing health when he received the injury, which hastened his death.

Lockwood was a lieutenant of Company K, Ninth Iowa Cavalry, and had made his home in Sullivan for years. His wife died several years ago, and he was living alone at the time of his death.

Two daughters in Los Angeles, Calif., and two sons, whose residence is unknown, survive.

The body will be brought to Sullivan for burial.

____________________________________

NOTE : Clearly, he was either never buried in Sullivan, or, they moved the body later.

If you want to send me your email, I can send you a copy of this clipping, this weekend.

Patty

Keith Chadwick
RE: Johnson Family Updates
Hi Susan.

I don't think I am related to any of these people. As Ottringham is my home village, I made the decision a few months ago to put all the gravestones in the churchyard onto this website. As you've already done quite a lot before me, you've saved me a lot of time, which is a bit of relief, as you can imagine. Also, apologies if I've made duplicates of the ones you've already done; I make a point of deleting mine once I know this is the case.

Kind regards,

Keith
