Many thanks, Bob, for taking the time and effort to photograph my uncle's grave in Rabaul. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to visit it myself anytime soon so I really appreciate the photo you have taken and posted. Bev S.

You sent message he is not buried there.
Do you have a source for that? as most cemeteries don't have complete records.. just because he doesn't have a marker or isn't listed in the records, doesn't mean he isn't there.
I know of too many instances, of even current burials, that are not listed in the cemetery where they are buried; more often than not, because the family put someone's ashes with another family member, and never paid to do it; or ashes went in to the spouse's coffin and no one notified the cemetery office; cemeteries won't add a person to their records, unless their location has been paid for. even if they know for sure they are buried there..

Great to have the image you posted. His late widow had one mounted in a card among her papers, but the colour had deteriorated badly, and it was virtually unusable. Many thanks indeed. Did you visit the cemetery? Would be nice to see the wider context of his plot, if that were at all possible?.

Thank you so much Bob for taking the time to visit and take the photo of his Memorial Plaque.
He died when being transported in a Dakota that crashed into an unnamed mountain with an elevation of 7,000' roughly 150' below the peak in an area known as Milim approximately six miles inland from Wide Bay. Everyone aboard were killed in the crash. The height of this peak was incorrectly plotted on their maps

Thank you for creating this memorial. I have run into a question as to the parentage of Francis. Hoping you or your viewers may clear this picture, I am referring to his father. Is the father, John, I (1589-1648)or Thomas (abt. 1558-)??

Bob, the 781-322-6300 apparently only handles the North Shore, not the Boston area. So no luck there.

|David Hurley||Hurley Grave Photo|
BobBoston: Thanks for taking the photo. I've been looking for years for my grandfather's grave but the office at the Holy Cross cemetery told me that they had no record of any burial even though I had documentation. Finally I wrote the Archdiocese office & they sent me the plot info which I posted. I suspect, that my grandfather's wife was too poor to afford a headstone of any sort so, and therefore, its still unmarked. Maybe she hoped that someday her fortunes would turn & she could buy one. Alas, it never materialized. I suspect this is a somewhat common event since my great-grandparents also lie in an unmarked grave in Stoneham. Thanks again & Happy New Year.
