RE: Permission
Please, by all means!! That's why they are up on a public website. All my time, research, effort, etc. is for naught if not used to it fullest. If I have posted family members that are yours and would like a transfer, don't hesitate to ask. If I've error-ed in any information, please advise. I'm not a attorney, but I believe, unless copyrighted, any photos on this website are in the public domain. Just because I took the photo and posted it, doesn't give me any rights unless I apply for them and get them copyrighted, even if I don't approve of your use of them.

RE: Permission
I added Harrison as Nellie's maiden name. Yes you can use the photos for Hetsel and Nellie. Are the 2 girl their daughter's? Sorry I hesitated. I am more careful now since someone used my photos without permission. Oh! he gave me credit but never asked my permission. Thanks for asking. Robin Fife

Using photos from findagrave
Ivy... Sure, you can use andy of the photos that I've taken! I wouldn't put them on a public site if I was worried about it. In fact, the whole reason I take these photos is to HELP people find their relatives!! C. McGuire (Ohio)

RE: Asking Permission
Hi Iva,

I apologize for taking so long to reply. I have taken time to research my rights, and to decide just how I feel about the situation.

Please let me know where and how you are using my photos, and I will let you know if I can approve and allow that use.

The problem of people using copyrighted pictures without permission is a large one.

My purpose in spending multiple hours, walking cemeteries, recording & taking photos of the stones as viewed, and then comparing my results with previous surveys and consulting census, military, vital records and every other source I can find is twofold.

First, it is my desire to compile the information, preserving it for future generations, knowing that so much of it is simply lost - never to be recovered.

Second, in making it available, through this fine FindAGrave site, the site may continue to grow and others, such as yourself, might benefit, at no cost, in their own research and in trying to document their lineage.

I too, have benefited from the work of others.

I have chosen FindAGrave as my outlet, and intentionally do not post photos on any other sites.

I am happy if you have benefited from my work, and I appreciate, even after the fact, that you are asking my permission.

I trust you will allow me the courtesy of knowing where and how my photos are being used.

Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm not sure which photos I've taken that you're interested in using but I have no problem with it. If the photos are other than gravestones I appriciate it if it is acknowledged that they came from me but gravestone pictures I put up to share with all. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you!
