As of January 25, 2014, I have moved permanently from Nevada to Florida.

I currently live in Bradenton, FL. My family has settled in, but I am originally from Ocala. I moved out west when I was a teenager, but moved back after a 25 year absence, when I had a young medical retirement. My mom retired as well, and we decided we should move back to help my ailing grandma. The details leading up to and including her death have taken it's toll and I took a fairly long break from visiting cemeteries. Just a few months back, we finally saw both my grandparents placed together at the Bushnell National Cemetery. My first trip back to a cemetery. I'm now living in a historic area with many cemeteries and it's about time to get back to work.

I've always found cemeteries, especially old ones, fascinating because I'm a history buff and there are always graves with interesting stories. One or two have even prompted me to hunt down old newspapers and other data to find out more.

My mom is the one who told me about this site (she's also the avid genealogist in the family). We figured if I'm going to travel and hike through old graveyards, I might as well try to help others if I can. I guess I kind of adopted the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery as my "home" cemetery. With a military and honor guard background, it just feels natural and like I'm contributing somewhere, even a little. I also enjoy the peaceful and often beautiful surroundings, and with everything I'm involved it, it's nice to go out for a few hours each week to tend and photograph the graves of our heroes.
