Laura Dickey (#47996254)
member for 4 years, 10 months, 20 days
DOB/DOD Mary "Polly" Douglas Dickey has the War of 1812 pension file (35 pages) for the pension Polly Dickey applied for based on her husband John M. Dickey's service. There is a "leaf" from a family record (Bible?). It gives Polly's DOB as 24 Mar. 1799. She was still alive in 1883 as the pension file has documents from her and others in that year.
Further, there is testimony from Wm. Cunningham and Thomas J. Sullivan that they attended the funeral of James M. Dickey in 1865 and he died in Houston Co. but was buried in Anderson Co.(p. 26 of the pension file). The testimony does not name the cemetery. They also stated that Polly still lived in Houston Co. Their testimony was given 16 Aug. 1883. There is no information on the DOD for Polly.
James and Polly are my 3xg grandparents.

You left me some edits for Shirley. I try to only post edits when I can verify sources. Do you have a source for her birth location and marriage date? Thanks.

To Laura Dickey,
You maintain Find-a-Grave sites at Evergreen Cemetery (Percilla [Houston County], Texas) for Mary "Polly" (Douglass) Dickey and her husband James Madison Dickey. They are my ancestors. I have a couple of questions.

James Dickey's children
The Gordon County Georgia heritage book has that Phoebe Rebecca Dickey was James and Mary's daughter. Phoebe married Myers Cochran. Their daughter Sarah Cochran married Thomas S. Holmes in Gordon Co. Sarah is my great grandmother. So Phoebe would be my gg gm and Mary my ggg gm. I am just starting to research the Dickey lineage and would be interested in sharing information.

Adrians, Van Zandt
The V.Z. Historical has a web page where I found an obit for Buchannan, listing his children and says his father was J.D.G. Adrian who would be Andrew's father also. Frontier Red Hill, V.Z. has a John D. Adrian 1815-1887. Can't verify if this is whom we seek but thought you might be interested.

RE: Francis Williams
you are not, but I have done it. Sounded like you were closer related than I am so I transferred to you. I do that a lot where most want to keep their numbers but close family or family should manage the sites as far as I think. I just like to transfer to family. Donna Lee Wall

Great! Apparently someone in your family has some info we would be interested in. Buchannans great granddaughter (age 90) is our best source and we're working to locate his children. Her memory is good and very helpful. Anything you can pass on to us would be appreciated!

Hi Laura,

Buchannan Breckenridge Adrian is my wife's great-grandfather on her Dad's side. His wife is Mary Ellen Davidson Adrian. There are Adrians in Frontier Red Hill, Van Zandt Co. Tx. and Holly Springs, Van Zandt. I don't know anyone researching this family and can't get past Buchannan.

Haynes graves
Dear Laura
You probably don't remember me but your Mother is my first cousin. I don't think I have heard from you since childhood. I was quite surprised when I stumbled across your posts on "Findagrave". I have some photos of the headstones you are seeking in Prairie Springs Cemetery of the Haynes family. It may take me a while to dig them out. We are getting ready to head out to San Antonio for Christmas with our kids. But I will be sure to get them to you when we get back if you will let me have your email address. Also I have built up quite a folder on Adrian Family history that I would be glad to share with you if you are interested. We often go by Prairie Springs Cemetery so if you need any additional pictures just let me know.

If you don't remember me I am the son of William Bertis and Lois Adrian from Ben Wheeler / Canton.
