No longer actively seeking to fulfill photo requests, will only do if I am visiting a cemetery for other reasons. Sadly a few members are flooding with A-Z requests, whether related or not, so those requests where people have done some sort of research are pushed down the list.

Been researching my family tree for years, locating the final resting place of ancestors, to say 'hi you are not forgotten'.

Also like to add records of local cemeteries, for others who may not be able to visit, or just because they become worn and illegible or suffer vandalism, so recording them now will save them for the future and some are beautiful sculptures in their own right.

The site is called Find A Grave and not Find A Headstone, my request photos reflect what I find at the plot, many families did not have the finances to bury their dead, far less pay for a headstone and the further back you go fewer people could read or write, so an inscribed headstone would be meaningless to the family.

If I add a photo that you requested and you don't see the connection, please read the photo caption before sending a message, thanks.

I take photos, I don't own them, feel free to use any of my photos for personal research without accreditation.

Find-A-Grave does not hold photographs for its memorials, volunteers have to go take them.

The FAG memorial number is not the plot number, so in large cemeteries without a plot number the grave will be difficult to find and impossible if not marked.
Where burial records are free to search, I will look the plot numbers up, but I do not have finances to look up pay for view records.

Please if you add a memorial make the information as accurate as possible, if you don't know leave blank, as others will think you have done the research and request a photo of a grave which may not exist.

Cemetery mergers unavailable since June 2023
Well Done.
Memorial mergers - reports of badly transcribed photos seem to be met with standard reply of 'we kept the memorial submitted first'- all very well but if memorial details still wrong bit useless, especially if it leaves a negative age.
Well Done.
Cemeteries now being marked as historic with photo requests being locked out, unfortunately if you click on an individual memorial you can request a photo, so all it does it lock people out of fulfilling request.
Well Done.
When fulfilling photo requests for a whole cemetery, each one completed reduces the count by 2, so once half are completed if you log out for any reason the remaining requests won't show.
Well Done.
