Bio

Retired U.S. Naval Aviator, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I'm originally from the Richmond, Virginia area, and now live in Central New York State, near Skaneateles. My interests include genealogy and family history, photography, and the outdoors. Find A Grave lets me combine all three, and get a little exercise in the process.

Family names of interest include Powers, Amos, Collins, Vernon, Nuckols, Slayden, Cobler (Cobbler, Kobler, Keppler), and Atkins (Adkins), among others.

If you see a memorial I have created, and you are a descendant, or a relative, who wishes to assume custody and management of the memorial, please let me know. It would be helpful if you could explain how you are related (OK, so I'm nosy).

If you see a mistake that should be corrected, or you wish to add additional information to a memorial I have created, again, please get in touch with me (NOTE: If your article, or addition, has errors in it, please proof-read, and correct them, before sending it to me. I prefer to NOT post information from electronically-scanned and digitized transcriptions of "old" documents that still contain illegible passages).

I approve the use of photos I have taken for personal, non-commercial use in family genealogy records. I do NOT approve commercial use of my photos by anyone. This includes for-profit (subscription) genealogy record libraries.

I have very little use for those folks who sit comfortably at their computers many miles away, and create Find A Grave memorials from transcribed records they've "discovered" on another database somewhere on the internet. This only creates duplicate information (and adds a level of permanence to errors made by the transcriber or record keeper), and contributes nothing to the overall repository of knowledge for those engaged in research on their own family history.

I also have little use for those who harvest names from the obituary columns, to create memorials, thinking they're somehow doing the world a service, or will get "extra points" when they reach the Pearly Gates. Many among our dearly departed have family members who are Find-A-Grave contributors, and who would rather create their family members' memorials themselves, instead of having the opportunity stolen by a stranger, however well intentioned, not known to the family.

You can send me an e-mail through Find-A-Grave by clicking on the "edit" tab at the upper right-hand corner of the memorial's page, or contact me at Mike13152 (at) yahoo dot com, or leave a Public Message.

"Behold, I will send you Elijah the Prophet ... and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers ..." (Malachi 4, 5-6)
