All photos of graves that I have posted were taken by me and may be copied freely and posted on other websites. There is no need to credit me or identify me when they are so used and no need to request permission beforehand. I won't be annoyed if you do anyway, but it really isn't necessary for the grave photos taken by me. Most photos of persons that I have posted were not taken by me. Please check the photo caption to determine the source (most often an obituary).

The photos were taken with a Sony Cybershot camera, which takes 4896x3672 (18M-pixel) images. The original JPG files are 6-7 MB in size. I then use GIMP, an open source image processing program that can be downloaded for free from, to rotate, crop and rescale the images. Usually I set the horizontal resolution to 1200 pixels, sometimes up to 1600 for panoramic scenes. I use a compression "quality" setting of 50 to 70, most often 60 to 65. The resulting picture files are usually 250 to 300 kB, with some up to 400 kB. Limiting the file size to that range allows snappy downloads when opening the image at full resolution.

Hi, I'm curious about the memorial you created #111501043. Do you know where you got the information for this burial? I think this is a child of two of my relatives (surname probably sloppily transcribed) and I'm interested in the source information.

Martha McCarron Doherty
My request to attach Martha to her parents was declined because "it did not match my information." I don't know if that is you or not, but I'm going to pled my case here. Martha McCarron's marriage to James Doherty occured on 28 December 1949. That record can be found on Ancestry at this url: It clearly shows this was her second marriage, that she was widowed, and has the names of her parents: William T. Mashman and Georgeanna Williamson, who have a gravestone in Morris Cemetery in Phoenixville, Chester County, PA.

John Herlihy
Dear Eric,
I see your memorial for this individual in the Catholic Mt Auburn cemetery in Watertown, MA. I am wondering if you are you a family member and if you can tell me where you found the names of John Herlihy's parents.
Thanks for photographing and posting.

Eric, this last name should be Kulakowski. He is the grandson of Jan "John" Kulakowski and, when he died, he was buried with him. Sorry .... just another of my "Ignatowski" family.
