Bio

I have doing family research since 1984. My father gave me a copy of the family book and since I discovered the internet in 97' I have been none stop ever since. Often, I get the gracious opportunity to help distant cousins find connections. I have been helped by cousins that I discovered and still stay connected today.

I am Willie Thomas Lyon/Hattie Louise Lambert's Daughter.

The Lyon family has it's roots in Vermont through Col. Matthew Lyon/Mary Hosford. Matthew Lyon's son James married Phila Risley(Benjamin Risley and Eunice Grant) in Vermont. then the migration began. James and Phila's son Rev. Mason Risley Lyon/Margeret King(David King and Tabitha Ledbetter) migrated first to Cherokee County Alabama in 1850(Tabitha Ledbetter King was with them) then onto Jackson County Alabama where he helped establish through the Mud Creek association a Primitive Baptist church. Mason settled in Jackson County Alabama for a while and his son Rev. William Augusta May Lyon who married /Rhoda Jane Ivey(Lorenzo Dow Ivey/Elizabeth Holland). Bethel Primitive Baptist Church is still thriving. William and Rhoda's son George Lyon married Harriet Catherine Maples(John Preston Maples and Eva Virginia Chandler). Georges son John William(grandfather) married Dosha Florence Maples(Edward Noah Maples/Mary Emerline Vann). John William is the father of Willie Thomas Lyon born in New Hope Alabama and Willie married my mother Hattie Louise Lambert(Issac B. Lambert/Lorena Davis). Mason Risley Lyon is buried in Texas and his wife Margaret King Lyon is buried in Knoxville Tennesse.

Alabama Roots: Chief BlackFox buried in Blount County Alabama. His daughter Mary married William Davis(Revolutionary War). Their daughter Rhoda Davis married John Holland(Gold). Their daughter Elizabeth Holland married Lorenzo Dow Ivey.
Thomas Vann/Anne Hare's son Thomas Vann/Martha Buchanan son Jesse Calvin Vann married Mary (Polly) Glover. Their son Thomas Jefferson Vann married Sarah Landers, Their daughter Mary Emerline Vann married Edward Noah (Dode) Maples. Their daughter Dosha Florence married John William Lyon.
