Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an amateur photographer and research my family's history so photographing monuments combines two of the passions I have that keep the other side of my brain from atrophying (I work in IT).

I usually post monument photos at sufficient resolution for printing a 4" x 6" image for your personal records.

I will willingly transfer any memorial requested within find-a-grave's parameters unless it is a member of my extended family in which case I will be open to discussion.

I give permission for my images to be posted on third party sites such as Ancestry but request you note with the image "Copyright Bruce B. Gordon - used with permission".

I would like to correspond with you via email. I believe this is the 1st wife of John Ferguson my direct ancestors. I have a photo of the graves I took in 1980. Would like your input.

Bruce, I believe this person to be my 3x great grandmother. However, I have her maiden names as Tarrias (I've seen it spelled several different ways). Can you tell me more about the person in the memorial? I have her marrying John Wallace in 1827. I would like to be able to confirm that this is the same person and change her maiden name if I need to. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Lin #47536376

St. James
Harriet was a bit of a dig. I could decipher the 1861 but will have to check with the office which isn't open on Sundays.

I have processed your changes, if you get a definite death date before I do, let me know and I'll change it.

RE: Muriel May Gordon (1899-1904), St. John's Dixie
Hi,
Thanks for remembering where the gravestone was. With your description I was able to go back, find it and take the two pictures that I have now posted to the memorial. St. John Dixie is difficult. One can get the location in the office and the approximate area, but rows and plots are not marked at all.
I have kept the full resolution pictures, in case you would like them. If you do, please give me your e-mail address.
Best wishes
Alfhard

RE: Thomas G. Burrows (1824-1863) Chatanooga National Cemetery
Does the pension record give his middle name or Initial?

Thomas G. on marriage certificate provided by Rev Sheldon. And on many of the documents in the file.

Is the source for the exact date, church and minister the Pension File?

The date and the minister's name are from the pension file. I was surprised how easily googled the minister was just by entering his initials, last name, and city, and finding the church.

m. Buffalo, NY, 16 April 1854, by C.P. Sheldon, a minister.

google c p sheldon and found in a google book
The New York Chronicle: A Monthly Report and Permanent Repository of Religious Intelligence and Useful Knowledge, Volume 1
Orrin B. Judd
Holman and Gray., 1849 - Baptists

this:
Meeting Houses - the Niagara Square Church of Buffalo, Rev. C. P. Sheldon, pastor, have completed their lecture room, and are not meeting in it.

Rev. Sheldon signed the marriage affidavit from Troy, NY. I found another book
The American Baptist Year-book

that says he was First V.P. of Baptist Education Society, and he lived in Troy. This was 1885.

You may check with that church or the historical society to see if they have marriage records.

Another book:
American Baptist Register, for 1852

NIAGARA SQUARE BAPTIST CHURCH, BUFFALO, N. Y.
This house is situated on the North West corner of Niagara Square, and was completed in May, 1851. It is 106 feet long by 53 feet wide. The towers are 100 feet high. The audience room is 93 feet long by 50 feet wide in the clear, with three aisles, one in the centre, and one next to each wall. The gallery is in the front over the vestibule, the entrance to which is in one of the towers. The windows are of enameled glass with a colored border, set in lead. The house is built of white brick, in the Romanesque style of architecture. In the rear of the main edifice is a Lecture Room 55 feet long by 36 feet wide. The cost of the building was about $11,000.

There is also a picture of the place!

Sorry for long post.

There is a Widow's pension (37 pages) on fold3.com.

Here is some helpful info from the pension file. I did not see any reference to other people named Burrows or Hibbard in the file or to his or her parents. sometimes there is, but not in this one. At least what is on fold3.

He and Ellen were married in Buffalo, Erie, NY., 1854. Ellen died in La Salle County, IL, Dec 1863.
Franklin J. Barry (age 48) was appointed guardian of the two children.

Hope this helps.
