Bio and Links
Bio Photo We work as a team: Russian-Danish family living in London. After a few years in the Middle East, we have now moved to our next adventure in China. County-keepers for England. Being long-term expats, we are very interested in all Russians and Danes who found their last resting place away from their home countries. We will be grateful for any comments, advice and links to memorials. Thanks to this wonderful website we have found many friends all over the world and the amount of mails we receive increase all the time. We appreciate all the mails and ALWAYS reply but sometimes it takes longer than we would like to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We prefer to get your questions and corrections through the EDIT tab in the memorial. Please include your own e-mail in case we need to write back to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rostislav Romanov
I'm curious as to where the photo of Rostislav Romanov (1938-1999) came from.

Hughes Memorial
Dear Julia,

I want to apologize for my last message to you, which was very churlish and not at all like me. Unfortunately I have not been well for a few weeks and was feeling very frustrated.

You and your husband do a wonderful job on your memorials, obviously doing extensive research. I concur that the transcript in photo form rather spoiled the look of your memorial and felt compelled to redo it for you. Unfortunately, not being up to scratch my usual efficiency suffered and I made a couple of typos. I redid the research to confirm the dates. I shall send them to you as edits to make it easier for you to make the corrections.

Please accept my humble apology. Warm regards,
Andrea

RE: John James Hughes Memorial # 104822480
Dear J&K

You neglected to put a link to the memorial # on your message so I had no idea to which memorial you were referring. As it is not one of mine, I had to put on my detective hat and spend a fair amount of time finding it. While working on my family in Norwood Cemetery came across your message to caryatid as it was next to a message of mine.

I did the transcription as a favour for you and caryatid and spent quite a bit of time on it to make sure it was accurate, even spacing it so that it corresponded to the headstone. I was curious so researched the family and even went so far as to do a partial family tree for them!

At the time I was not aware of the edit link to memorial transcription, so thought that a photo was the only way to submit it. I used 3 different programmes in order to make it as neat and legible as possible and put in jpeg format. A couple of weeks after submitting it I erased it from my computer. As it is quite a lengthy one, I am not prepared to retype it, taking me away from my own work.

If you want to type it under Memorial Transcription, please go ahead and do so. You can then let me know when you have done so and I shall delete the photo I put on.

By the way, you might want to name of the city he founded in the Ukraine- it was a village originally named Yuzovka or Hughesovka, which was changed in 1924 to Stalino and in 1961 the name was changed to Donetsk.

Sincerely, Andrea

Amman Jordan
Hi J&K from your kindred spirit!

I am heading to Amman Jordan next week and I see that I am (as always!) following in your intrepid footsteps. I have an entire free weekend. Any cemeteries that you wanted to spend a lot of time but were unable? I see there is an "Old Christian Cemetery" on Al-Muzeir'ha Street with only one memorial, but I have not been able to locate that street on the map, can you provide GPS? In my research I have not been able to locate any British-era cemeteries. Anything you can recommend?

Kind Regards,
Scooter T
