Fallen Graver

Sadly, Marvin Hilts has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

My "dead people" (approx 350) listed in my Virtual Cemeteries are family members, those who married into the family, and a small handful of their relatives; they are linked together as much as possible to facilitate family navigation. The other listings, most of which are not in my Virtual Cemeteries, are ones I thought may have been family, friends, veterans, or are just interesting.

In addition to Hilts, my grand-parents' surnames include Blossum, Butler, Caskey, Conyers, Drake, FitzRandolf, Ganton, Gibbs, Gulick, Huffenus, Krizanitz, Lindsley, McWilliams, Merrylls, Smith, Trotter, Walker, Warner, Wood, and Wooden, to name a few, and Charlemagne is my 35th Great-Grandfather.

My wife Peggy and I live in Blairstown, NJ, 25 miles west of Ledgewood, parts of which are listed as "The Hilts District" in Morris County atlases from the latter part of the 19th century. There was a Hilts School in Ledgewood, and Netcong's Post Office is located on the corner of Main St. and Hilts Lane.

As an interesting side-light, two of my grand-children are direct descendants of Mayflower passengers William and Mary Brewster.

Thanks go to my third cousins Letha and Diane from whom I received a large portion of these data.

A deciphering guide to the "cousin" maze can be found here.

I invite relatives or anyone with comments or corrections to email me.
