The memorials I set up, manage, or contribute to on Find-A-Grave fall into two categories.

There are people on my own family tree for which I've inherited an exceptional amount of information and record-keeping. I believe it is my responsibility to my grandmothers who took the time to record and maintain all this family history to make sure their efforts make a difference beyond me. There will come a time when I'm gone and I don't want all they have passed on to be lost with me. I know they kept my family history alive so those gone would not be forgotten, and I am committed to keeping that from happening beyond my own lifetime. I dedicate these memorials to my grandmothers.

The second group of memorials I set up, manage, or contribute to are related to the writers of two 1878 journals I own and am transcribing for future publication. As I researched the people in the journals, I began uncovering a wealth of information from archive centers, historical societies, and libraries that went beyond the scope of my research but for which I felt descendants of these people would want to know and should know. Again, once the information became known to me, I felt a responsibility to do what I could to keep the memories and histories of these people alive for their descendants and to pass that information on beyond me. The memorials related to these journals are dedicated to their writers, Flora Manier and Will Geiger, because if they weren't record-keepers themselves, I would have never known their names.

A fellow by the name of Banksey is credited with a quote that fuels my heart. What he said goes something like this: You die twice. Once when you stop breathing... and a second time... later on... when your name is said for the last time.

I regret that the website www.floraandwill.com has temporarily been set to private in order to allow me time to transcribe and research the diaries thoroughly. I will be unable to respond to email inquiries during this time. It is my hope that in concentrating my efforts on the diaries alone, I will be able to make them available publicly sooner.
