My Tardy Response
Hello Jean Ann,

I am so sorry to be so late in responding to your message, but I just found it today. Thank you for your remembrance of the anniversary Elaine and I recently had. That was sweet of you.

I should watch my messages more closely. I used to, but my Find A Grave activities are greatly reduced this past year because it is so difficult for me to visit cemeteries, consequently I don't work very much with memorials anymore. I miss doing this, but fortunately my friend Richard Thompson in Iowa has done a splendid job of managing the 800+ memorials that I transferred to him.

Very pleased to find your message, would be happy to become email pen pals if you were willing. We have been messaging foe a very long time now and I think you can feel confident that this eighty year old man offers you no problems. You know me by now. By the way, you wished me and my family well which was kind of you, but I really have no family other than a step daughter on the other side of town. I live alone with a fifteen year old kitty who allows me to live with her.

Glad to see Autumn finally here and an end to the heat of summer.

Stay well, Dear Friend!

I mourn Tom Petty
I came to know Tom Petty from 1970's am/fm radio. I loved his music because it was made for me. I am American. To me, he represented common and complex American lives in song. I always felt a connection to his songs, deeply in my mind, because I thought about his songs a lot. His music had layered meanings and inspiration. I will miss Tom Petty, but will NEVER lose him because of what he represents to me, and how he influenced and entertained this American. I try not to look too hard at the electronic media covering his death because it is not what Tom Petty is about, to me. (Right now this seems real to you, but it's one of those things you got to feel to be true.)

Thanks, Jean Ann. The day has been great with family and a dear friend. It's not so bad being 94. In fact it's great.

Thank you for the birthday flower you left for Bob, remembering his birthday. I see you are from Texas, and I hope you are in a safe area. My thoughts and prayers are for the state of Texas and now also the state of Florida.
