I love history and have been a grave "digger" all my life. I found Find A Grave while trying to put mine and my husband's family trees together and was instantly compelled to start my own virtual cemetary. What a neat thing to do for people who are unable to visit their loved ones!|
I started working on our family trees in 2007 and the following is the direct Spitler line for my husband:
Hans Spittler 1689-1736 Basil, Switzerland
Johannes Spittler I 1690-1757 Bethel PA
Johannes Spittler II 1718-1757 Bethel PA
Jacob Spittler 1756-1826 Botetourt, VA
John Spitler, Sr 1788-1874 Clay OH
Andrew Spitler 1818-1891 Clay OH
Dr Charles Elmer Spitler 1863-1941 Saratoga IN
Dr Lloyd Lollar Spitler 1903-1978 Kettering OH
Rev Thomas Lloyd Spitler 1929-2001 Cincinnati OH
Will gladly transfer sites or add information and photos for family and friends. Our Spitler & Casale DNA is on the 23 & Me Website.

|Jeff Somerfield||RE: Susannah Buckwalter Spittler #53168847|
Have you ever procured the will of Jacob Spitler, dated October 13, 1825 in Botetourt Co.? It is available through the local courthouse. I'm interested in seeing it and may order it.
I've found some interesting information on Susanna Buckwalter Lane, her first husband, Peter Lane, and Susanna's possible parentage. Check out the following: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=buckwalter&id=I6390
I'm still questioning the birth year of 1759. Susanna would have been very young at the time of the birth of her first child... Research continues.

In your research on the Spittler/Spitler family, have you ever found any record concerning Jacob and Susannah's children that specifically states that Susannah's maiden name was Buckwalter? This Susannah is a mystery and no known linkage to any other Buckwalter has been made. It is my belief that she is a descendant of a Buckwalter that lived outside of Lancaster County, PA. This means that she may be a descendant of either Johannes or Jacob Buckwalter, c. 1720 immigrants.
I am currently attempting to find the Lane/Lehn connection also.
|David Allison||Solomon Spittler|
I am writing a book about the Civil War battle of Decatur, Ga., where Solomon Spittler was wounded. I saw your post about him. I wanted to know the source of your information, as I would like to include it in my book. If you see this can you please email me at email@example.com Many many thanks for your help.

Would it be possible to combine our work on a duplicated memorial for Coach Pell? I created and sponsored a memorial many years before yours. Coach Pell was my high school teacher. I live in Georgia so was unable to photograph his grave. I see that you were able to photograph his markers.
|Bruce Sonner||RE: Gene Racey et al|
The Sonner Family started their family in Strasburg, Va. So there are a lot of them buried there in Riverside. Initially , most were posted by a Find a grave member known as "Stars and Stripes" (f memory serves). But he got a bur under his saddle about something and removed all of his photos and work from Find a Grave. So thank you for reposting your photos! All of the Sonners' listed in Riverside are my family, and slowly the photos are starting to re- appear!
