I'm a graduate student at Texas A&M University. I'm rather new to genealogy but am interested in learning more about my heritage. Thus far, I've been mainly focusing on my Hiatt and Woodford ancestors, as they're the most well-documented. I am trying to document everything I know about my relatives but am finding so many holes, even in the lives of relatives I've actually met. I wish I had started this long ago, but better late than never. I want to fill in the gaps for future generations.

I first started researching my family background a few months ago, while putting together an album of all the brides in the family to give my niece for a wedding gift.

RE: Amos C. Hiatt
Hi cuz! My records are those found in Hinshaw's books of the monthly meeting minutes in North Carolina, Virginia and Indiana. Unfortunately, the census records do not name the children until all have left home. I will check again and get back to you.
When I looked at all the Hiatts buried in Ackworth Cemetery in Warren County, I see that Elwood Hiatt and his wife are there. This was Amos C.'s older brother. Hmmm. I looked up all the children because they are not listed on Christopher and Jemima's pages. I thought you might want these.
1. Asher b. 17 7 mo 1803, Grayson Co, VA, m. 4 Oct 1821, Clinton Co, OH to Lucy MOUNT-- children Chambers (1831), Elizabeth (1832)

2. Samuel L b. 9 8 mo 1805, Grayson Co, VA d. 12 3 mo 1866, age 61, buried Snowhill Cemetery, Washing Twp, Randolph Co, Indiana; m. 31 6 mo 1830 in Highland Co, OH to Mary J. Terrill, dau of David and Mary Anthony Terrill; b. 1805/06 in VA, living 1850 in Clinton Co, OH; to Indiana 1859. (I have from Clinton County Genealogy Society abstracts from Clinton Co. newspapers. Mary Hiatt died 12 Mar 1866 in Randolph, Indiana. Their 5 children are listed on their findagrave pages.)

3. Mahala b. 5 5 mo 1807, Grayson Co, VA; d. 10 mo 1810 on the way to Ohio.

4. Anna b. 8 3 mo 1809, Grayson Co., VA; m. Sampson WRIGHT, about 1832, in Clinton Co, OH. Children: Marion, Melissa and others unknown.

5. Elizabeth b. 24 7 mo 1811, Grayson Co, VA; m. 1 5 mo 1828, in Clinton Co, OH to James WRIGHT (brother of Sampson Wright), son of John and Sarah MNU Wright. Children: Louisa

6. Unknown Hiatt, b. 1813; d. young

7. Greenberry b. 3 6 mo 1815; d. 1 5 mo 1832

8. Amos b. 18 3 mo 1817
These children are listed on Christopher and Jemima Hiatt's findagrave pages, so I did not copy the details

9. Mary

10. Abner

11. Clarkson

12. Elwood

Note -- Amos C Hiatt, the last child on their findagrave pages is not mentioned in Johnson's book. These 12 are in Johnson's book.

Amos C. Hiatt
I am a descendant of Christopher and Jemima Hunt Hiatt through their son, Samuel. In my research, I have not found an Amos C. Hiatt as a child of Christopher and Jemima as noted on this page. There was an Amos, but no Amos C. Can you tell me how you came to link them to these parents? Thank you

I have been trying to locate anything on Ida being linked to James Richard Painter or Hiram. So far, I have not been able to find anything on Ida. Do you have any information for Ida? Dob, Dod?

William Thrasher, FAG #108742777
I received your private message through James Painter. I apologize. I forgot I had removed my contact info due to a person harrassing me. My private e-mail is Any information you can locate will be greatly appreciated. I have found a distant relative and she was able to give me the information (Lela married a Thrasher. From there, I found the name William and then with your information on Find A Grave, I was able to be sure this was the same person. I will see if I can find anything on Hiram Creel. I know Ida is buried is an unmarked grave about 10 minutes from where I live. I hope you have safe travels and look forward to hearing from you. Donna Wilson

I was reading the information for William Thrasher. You have information that William married Lela Jane Scott. They married 7/20/1909 in Garden City, Blount Co, Alabama. Lela was my step-great grandmother. She married my grandfather, James Richard Painter. I was wondering if you had an additional information for her, such as burial, additional children? Thanks so much! Donna
