|j wyke||Rau pension papers|
Good afternoon Richard,
here is some good news for your research on the 6TH Michigan Cavalry.
Louis Rau f.a.g.14422670 the bugler for same.
I have come across 6o pages of sworn statements given in court by Officers, enlisted men, Chaplains, and local preachers. In these papers they swear under oath that Louis Rau was the sole support of his Mother REGINA RAU f.a.g.#14511774.
In some instances, they give camp life, troop movements and battles they saw him at. Some officers have beautiful handwriting !!!
Regina Rau did receive her sons pension thanks to the 6th Michigan Cavalry.
I have posted up one such paper/sworn statement on Louis Raus' memorial.
All papers are on the National Archives website under Regina Rau Columbus Ohio.
I bid you a good evening
Judy in MI.

Hi Mr. Howell,
I found your profile through researching the 6th cavalry and think it's really great you are supporting them through your research as well. Avery D. French is my 4th great grandfather but the Avery French findagrave profile is not the one that was in the 6th cavalry. Avery D. French from New Haven, MI was born in 1826 and died between 1877 and 1891 in California while visiting his brother Darwin. The reason I am writing to you today was to see if there were two different Avery Frenchs in the 6th cavalry or just an error. We as a family don't know where Avery is buried but we can guess that it is probably near the San Diego/Death Valley area as that is where a lot of family members ended up. I am looking forward to your insight on this.
Thank you so much!

Richard, Thanks for all you do, which is a LOT!
Concerning this memorial and the one you maintain for his spouses is most helpful to those of us who are researching our families. I appreciate the images and the write ups.
Regarding your Civil War work - Bravo Zulu!

Hi Richard, On my Great Aunts Find A Grave page that I established, you posted the above comment under the picture and now it won't let the headstone photo be put on. Is there a reason? Can you remove it please. Thank you.

|Lee Ashmore||Harriet Jane Hopkins Chamberlin 1830-1903|
I'm researching her family and discovered she has a twin brother, Harvey James Hopkins. I'm curious where you got her photo and if you have any other family photos.
|Stephen Kronberg||Heber Angel at Acacia|
Please close your photo request for Heber Angel, the cemetery office has no record ofhis burial.
Thank you, Stephen
|s schmidt||John Gundry 132053384|
I am looking for his wife Sarah Drewitt Gundrey.
She died September 17, 1891 White Lake Oakland Co MI.
Wondering if she is buried near her husband John Gundrey.
If it is convenient could you check someday. No hurry.
Please look at # 41775544 Nicholas Bergley.
I posted him to St Andrews Cemetery and have been working with Angela to take photos. She has no record of him being buried there.
Due to old age setting in (LOL) I can't remember where I got the information. 14th Michigan Infantry, Company D-Civil War
