Mark Ramsey M.D.
Thomas Ramsey b. 1816
Stacy,
My name is Mark Ramsey, and I am working with the Ramsey y-DNA project and genealogy library to try to find linkages of these various NC Ramseys. Thre are two major subtypes- one is Scotch-Irish, the other Scandinavian. Like Thomas Ramsey b. 1816, I am of the Scandinavian Clan. But I cannot find how we fit together. My 3rd GGF was John Ramsey b. 1808 in NC, and I believe his father was William Ramsey b. 1776 in VA. William sttled in Cocke Co., TN, but I am very closely related to decendants of John Ramsey b. 1755 in VA, who moved to WNC.

Do you know who Thomas' parents were? There are lots of theories, known DNA connections, but no proof. Any help is appreciated!

RE: Archibald Grant's first wife
By down here ,do you mean North Carolina ? We were visiting the Tipton- Haynes State Historic Area near Johnson City,TN and discovered that the wife of the Confederate Senator from TN, Landon Carter Haynes, was Eleanor Powell Haynes.I wonder if she was a relative of Elizabeth Powell Grant, mother of Archibald ? I will do some research on that.Eleanor Powell Haynes was born in North Carolina.

RE: Hello
Stacy, wanted to let you know the marker for Joel Walsie Callahan has been restored and placed on his grave. The marker was lost? or under ground and we didn't know it for some time. A picture of the restored marker is on his page on Find a Grave. His birthdate is still wrong; should be Nov. 30, but would have cost too much to correct. Thanks for keeping up with family. Take care, Linda

RE: Robert Long Memorial
Stacy, You are very welcome. I'm glad I could help. I will be happy to turn management of your grandfather's page over to you, just let me know. If he was a veteran, please let me know, so I can add him to my virtual veterans' cemetery for Rockingham County. I am the only one who can add him to that cemetery.

I am very sorry for your loss. He sounds like a remarkable person.

Bea
