Bonnie was born in Gary, Indiana, but grew up in Parkersburg and Charleston, West Virginia.
Bonnie's interest in genealogy began when she was 12 years old,when she interviewed and recorded information from her older relatives.
Returning to Indiana for college, Bonnie married Gordon Schermer and reared two daughters who each graduated college and married very strange men. Today Bonnie lives in South Bend, IN with Gordon and two beautiful cats.
