Bio Photo A Southern Family Tree is not a tree but a beautiful Wisteria Vine with many branches going everywhere and a lost root!

NSDAR 1988 Patriots: Rev. Lewis Cookson Davis, John Anderson, Charles Heard, William Hay, Lt. Willis Pope, Nathaniel Jones,John Stovall, Absalom Davis and Owen Griffin. Only one has a known grave site so the rest do not have memorials on FAG. (Update Nov 2015: found that other members are now making unknown burials of these patriots meeting their genealogy storage goal and not FAG's goal of recording graves sites)

Colonial Dames of XVIIC 2009 Colonial Ancestor: Bartholomew Stovall, NC

Amelia Island Genealogical Society~ Corresponding Secretary 2004-2005 and Past Nassau County, FL Genealogical Website Committee member.

Published in the Quarterly magazines of the Southern Genealogical Exchange and Amelia Island Genealogical Society articles on my family and various others of North FL lines.

6th Generation Floridian: Ancestor Florida Pioneer Abner Sweat and son Samuel.

To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. Do not request relationship edits to a BU as it will be refused. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

If you are seeking transfer to "have all your family together" ~ use the virtual cemetery button. Then all of the memorials will be in the same "cemetery", and you can look at them daily.

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

Remember to check on the Discussion Forums here. They are very newsy, helpful and interesting!

Whispering Pine location
When I went to look at the cemeteries in Nassau County, the pin for Whispering Pine was in the middle of Alabama instead of in Yulee where it belonged. It has been corrected now.

Henry Thompson
Is there any information that you could give me on Henry Thompson. We see that you put down the information that he emigrated from a Cherokee Tribe. Where could I go to look up this information. Or better yet where did you find this information? I would love any information that I could get on him. I can see all the conflict with people questioning this information but my grandmother point blank stated that we had Native American blood and we didn't talk about it. Kids use to ask her children if they were Italian. I guess back then they were ashamed to admit if they were Native American. Anyway you can contact me at

RE: For Virtual Cemetery, Florida Revolutionary War Patriots
I was not trying to have Josiah Jones page edited. I was informing you that you could possibly add him to your Virtual Cemetery: Florida American Revolution Patriots.

RE: ruby jackson mccollum
I did not fully delete mine yet. I sent a message to the man listing the grave in the wrong cemetery and told him that when ruby was transferred to the correct cemetery, I would gladly delete mine. I am making a note on my site that the original listing is grave #132616586 and that it has been listing in the wrong cemetery, which lead to this duplicate. I will delete this entry when the other grave listing is moved. Until then, I think it is OK to leave here listing in the correct cemetery if someone is looking for her.

Oops,, Don't know if I should have deleted my duplicate. You see, the other person has Ruby in the WRONG CEMETERY! She is the only grave listed in the Hope Well Baptist Church Cemetery because there is no Hope Well Baptist Church Cemetery, it is New Hope! I have sent a suggestion to that person to move the grave to the correct cemetery, Hope they do, since her brother is buried there.
Thanks again,

My goodness, seems that the original publication had the wrong cemetery! Because there she is, with a tombstone photo in Hope Well Baptist Church Cemetery!

The Suwanee County Genealogical Society, Inc, Cemetery Book 1, pg 23 had all the same graves in the New Hope Baptist Cemetery! That is where I found her name and a few others. I will now go back and delete any name I had in New Hope that is in Hope Well! What a mess! Thanks so much for your help in pointing this out.

RE: duplicated your own memorial
By the way, Linda, how did you notice the duplication? Are you a relative? How interesting -- let me know! Candice
