Current rules for Naming Memorials can be found here: https://support.findagrave.com/s/article/Naming-Memorials

To get started in genealogy, begin by recording, at least privately, the experiences and memories of your immediate family. Write them down. Tell them to your grandkids. Slip a copy into the family Bible or other safe place. Then, work your way back through the generations and, as the secrets of the past are revealed, remember to focus on the courage, compassion, and hard work of our ancestors. Highlight the good stuff, honor the struggles, and look for the lessons to be learned.

NOW is the time to ask YOUR Great Aunt Lizzie about HER mom and dad.
I often wish I had asked more questions as a child.

Remember to label those family photos. If you are unsure, then use a pencil (lightly) and a question mark.

Photograph all those old records, even old photos, and share and store them digitally, but also please keep at least one hard copy of your family's data, being especially careful to hang on to any original documents and preserve them in an acid-free environment, perhaps even keeping a second copy somewhere different in case of flood or fire.
You can also access Ancestry.com for free through many public libraries, where you can digitally share your ancestors' records, photos and stories with future generations without excessive expense.

One more thing: FindaGrave is a wonderful research tool for the family genealogist, created by and maintained by volunteers.
I hope we can keep it free for public use.

Good luck in your search.
You can contact me at [email protected], just remember to put the word FindaGrave in the subject line.
