I started doing photo inventories of cemeteries in St. Lawrence county NY in 1999 and have close to 200 cemeteries inventoried on my home page (see link below). I copied the inventories to find-a-grave and am uploading the photos here. If you find a photo on my website that you would like uploaded here, please send me an email or leave me a message and I'll be happy to add them. |
I lived most of my life in the Washington DC area where I took photos at Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) from 2007-2015. I now live in Colorado but but still visit ANC when I can to take photos. However, I no longer claim requests due to stalking and harassment from a couple other volunteers. I hope to regain the feeling of dignity and serenity that I used to have when I walked into the cemetery. It is one of the most honorable, respectful, and to me, sacred locations in the world. I am still (as of 2017) trying to keep the listing of interments in Arlington National Cemetery up to date on FindAGrave.
Let me know if you would like to take-over management of any listings I manage for your family/friends. I generally honor such requests, but please realize that edits can be made by using the edit tab on the memorial without any need for transfer of management. While in the past I never turned down a transfer request, recent actions on some of my transferred memorials have caused me to occasionally decline. I may decline when the requester republishes recent obituaries without permission from the publisher (in violation of item 3 of the site "Terms of Service"), creates duplicate or burial unknown memorials (in violation of the site rules), or adds inappropriate biographies which to me include biographies that are NOT about the person, but solely about their husband, ancestors, graphic details of their death, or only about the history of the plane/ship/etc they served on.

Many thanks for taking the time to locate the burial site. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your answer regarding what happened to many of the memorial pages at Arlington. I certainly don't envy you having to untangle and correct the mistakes made. I sent three SACs the other day regarding three (or six!) persons at Arlington. I'll check my virtual cemeteries for any of the 91st Div guys and see if there were any other mash-ups and let you know.
Thank you for your terrific work here on Find A Grave.

Anne, thank you so much for the photos of the Kaplan tombstones. They were all wonderful - clear and easy to read. The Harry Kaplan photo confirmed what I hoped to find; he is my great grandfather's brother. Solomon Kaplan is still a mystery that I have to do more work on.
If you are ever in the Degel Israel cemetery again and happen to find more Kaplans, I would be grateful if you could photograph and add them to FindAGrave. I think there are likely to be more, but the four you photographed are the only ones currently with memorials in FindAGrave.

Thank you for taking a picture of my grandmother's grave. You have inspired me to take photos of graves in my area too, because it meant so much to me to see it! Thanks for all the work you've done in this online community!
