Bio

I started researching both parents' families in 1999. Many relatives live in IL, since I was born and raised there, however, my immediate family lives all over the USA and I live in New Jersey.
My relatives came from Germany, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, and France. My initial inquiry on Roots Web in 1999 about my G-G-Grandfather, Johann, was answered within a few days from a cousin in Germany. Johann emigrated from Ihrlich, Prussia with his mother, 2 of his brothers, and a sister to Zanesville, OH, in 1837, and then Johann moved to Joliet, IL in 1857. My German cousin and I both visited Zanesville, and then we went to IL to do more research.
I am always looking for any Czech. relatives with the last name of Jiruska.
I have written and talked to many and they all claim they are not related to me. How sad my G-Grandfather had no one here when he arrived at age 15.
I ended up hiring a genealogist in Prague to find some info....there wasn't
too much to find.
Through this site, I have been able to add and view my relatives' and friends' memorials. I found this site many years ago but didn't join it as a contributor until I retired. I appreciate all the work that everyone on F-A-G has done, and hope that I will be able to help many families.
Middleton Memorial pictured as my bio photo can be found at the Blackwood Presbyterian Cemetery in Blackwood, NJ. It once must have been a beautiful memorial but has not been maintained too well.
