Bio

I am the Church Secretary of Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Franklin, VA and am working on the memorial records for their old and new cemeteries. I am aware of several unmarked graves that the church office records do not have identification for currently and am working toward resolving this.

I inherited by interest in genealogy from my mother, Doris Sue Spence Fontaine (Memorial # 83062091). Growing up, a Sunday afternoon ride through the country usually included a cemetery visit which I affectionately call a cemetery hop.

A few years ago I decided to make her handwritten or typed pages into an electronic format after encouragement from family and friends. In many instances, she left behind clues for me to follow in my adventures today.

You are welcome to use any of the photos that have been posted to the memorials. I would appreciate if you would kindly give me credit for my efforts when using them.

Happy Hunting!

~ I'm the Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Granddaughter of Rev Jaques James Fontaine IV (Find A Grave Memorial# 68571729) and Anne Elizabeth Boursiquot Fontaine (Find A Grave Memorial# 68571829), Huguenot Refugees from France who first settled in Devonshire & later in Ireland. It was his dying wish that all members of his family remain close through the ages and to aid one another in times of strife. From his wishes was formed The Fontaine-Maury Society which today is an active thriving organization whose mission is to strengthen the family bonds of the Fontaine and Maury families.

~ I'm the Great-Great-Great-Great Granddaughter of Rev Paul Biffle Henkel (Find A Grave Memorial# 11094929). He was the first Lutheran pastor born in N. C. Minister on record at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wytheville, VA. He did more to organize the Lutheran church in Wythe County than any one else (1790-1793). He organized the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Market, VA in 1820 served as its pastor until his death in 1825.

~ My email Address is current as of 2/2022.
