I have been obsessed with genealogy since I was 15 years old. I'm a member of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Several books have been donated to local genealogical libraries and historical societies. Specific surnames include: Hamm, Bennett, Bryant, Lanam, Beach, and Allgood. You may contact these places or contact me.

I have also been creating my own tokens (or flowers) since March 14, 2016. It has been very enjoyable creating these personalized tokens. Each token I create bears a small, pink heart which has significant meaning to my family. Please don't modify them.

─══ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ On Transferring Memorials ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ══─

On 11 January 2022 Find a Grave updated their transfer guidelines to try to balance the goals of (a) having the most correct burial information, (b) including other personal information about the person being memorialized that the memorial creator may not know, as well as (c) being sensitive to family members who would like to manage these memorials. Therefore, the guidelines have been expanded to include: child, spouse/partner, sibling, parent, grandchild, great-grandchild, grandparent, great-grandparent, niece/nephew, great-niece/nephew, aunt/uncle, great-aunt/uncle, or first cousin. This would include adoptive, step and in-law versions of these relationships.

We have all asked for non-direct line relatives; even those who refuse to transfer them. I have found that most people will transfer a family member regardless of the relationship. Although the majority of memorials I've added are my family, I have added a few family friends. If you would like to manage any such memorial just ask for the transfer – no need to give me your relationship to the deceased. If we share a common ancestor that is your direct line (and not mine), again, just ask for the transfer. If we share a common direct-line ancestor and you want management when I'm no longer on Find a Grave, let me know and I'll leave instructions for it to be transferred to you. With that said...

I am very thankful to those who have worked so hard to create memorials for my family members. I typically respect a person's option to transfer or not. But if I've been researching a particular person for a very long time and finally find them/learn about their lives, I sometimes will ask for a transfer despite the guidelines that are in place. It's hard not to ask because you become so attached to that person. I do honestly consider it an honor to be able to maintain their memorials. I don't just "collect" them and then forget about them. I visit all the memorials I manage once a week, on their birth and death anniversaries, and on some holidays. I also write biographies, add obituaries and other newspaper articles, or tid-bits of information about the individual regardless if they are family or not.

─══ ✿ڰۣڿ✿ On Memorials I Manage ✿ڰۣڿ✿ ══─

I have been working on linking family, adding photographs, biographies and other important information about the individual so that their full story can be told. That's one of the advantages of managing your family's memorials because a stranger cannot tell a family member's story quite like someone who knew them in real life or have heard stories about them. I'm also focused on replacing the photos that have intrusive watermarks on them (this may take a minute or two) and adding census information. I always note the last time I updated a memorial and what information was added.

••●•• All images and information I provide on each memorial may be used for genealogical purposes. Images may be added to Ancestry trees or downloaded for your personal use. Please do not add to, alter or change the photos, this includes cropping. Biographies and other items written by me may also be used for personal genealogical use. However, if you want to use any of the information I have provided for your personal gain or recognition, please do not do so without my written approval. ••●••

I do add birth certificates, death certificates and obituaries to memorials, but I do so according to the guidelines set forth by Find a Grave; namely, I do not include the names of living individuals or any identifiable information about those still living. I realize the information is readily available to the public through other sources and I'm sure Find a Grave realizes it as well, but I emailed them specifically about obituaries and in their reply they asked that the paper be recognized and living individual information not be included. Scans of newspaper articles/obituaries were also prohibited, according to their email. Any scans of obituaries added to any memorial I manage will be moved as the last photo.

Find a Grave is a wonderful tool for recording our loved ones final resting place, but it is also a great genealogical tool. I have created memorials where the burial information is unknown. Should these individuals be forgotten simply because there's no record of where they are buried? I think not. Creating memorials for those with no record of burial allows for information to be gathered for that person. On all memorials I manage I try to provide as much information as possible, family or not. I want the unique individuals to be remembered, not just where they are buried.

I process edit requests, reply to comments and make transfers within 24 hours (I'll let you know if it's going to take me longer). If you are researching a common ancestor and have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm willing to share any information I may have and help you with your research.

I'm not going to require you to jump through a bunch of hoops just to send an edit. If you're like me, you're not going to come to my profile page just to get specific instructions on how I want you to send an edit. Instead, if you send an edit I'll take the time to confirm it if it's not obvious. If I'm leaning towards declining your edit, I will contact you so that we can work on it together.
