I discovered Find A Grave while searching for the grave of my grandfather's brother. This simple little search sent me on a mission to search for my ancestors and get some of my family history on Find A Grave. Once I got hooked on genealogy, I decided I could help others by adding names to the site so that sent me onto my new "hobby" - photographing graves, and now I am totally addicted. I hope my work on Find A Grave will help others in their search or allow them to "visit" a loved one's grave. |
Please do not send raw data such as census info or service records to be added to a bio. You can use that in your ancestry program but I think it is tacky on a memorial. I am always happy to add biographical information to the memorial.
I'm not one of those people who think they give a prize for managing the most memorials. If you have any connection to someone that I have created a memorial for, I will gladly transfer it, as long as they are not in my tree.
The Bismarck Tribune did a very nice article on my cemetery project a while back. Click Here to view the article.
In April 2016 they did another article. Click Here to view the article.
I have set up a Tribalpages family tree. Click on the link below to view it.
If I have taken a photograph of your ancestor's tombstone and it is of poor quality (shadows/overgrown with grass/hard to read/etc), please let me know and I will see what I can do about taking a better one. It is hard to take good photographs of all the markers when I am at a cemetery as the angle of the sun is often poor the stones don't photograph well.
If I have helped you in your search, please return the favor and "pay it forward" and do your part to help out someone else.

|Jim Godfrey||godfrey, bernard|
I just happened to look at godfrey listed in Bismarck (st Mary's Cemetery). My grandfather is James A, grandmother Roberta (Bertha).
I noticed that you listed Bernard (died at birth in 1952). This is completely news to me so I am interested in the origin of this information.
in researching my family tree I know that James A was very secretive and there were things not openly reported or known. ie my aunt Jordice (Jude) was from a first marriage to a ruth Holmquist, no additonal info known.
thanks for any light you can shed on this
|Bill Norman||Elaine Bender Lahren|
Thank you for taking and posting the photo of Elaine's headstone. Excellent photo. Nice work.
|Peggy Johnson Tolan||Dale Christopherson's headstone|
Thank you so much for taking your time to take the photo of Dale Christopherson's headstone. He was a relative of my husband's and I like to document the family history. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
|Sharon Johnson Lawless||Dale Virgil Christopherson|
Thank you for finding his headstone and posting a picture of it to Find A Grave.
|Ted Melina Raab||Use of photo|
May I use your photo of Charles Erastus Markham's headstone (Find A Grave Memorial# 64879442) on my Ancestry.com page for this man?
Thank you for your consideration, for the work you're doing and, most of all, for the generous spirit in which you do it.

|Heide Becker||Andreas Schaedler|
I've put in a correction to Mr. Schaedler's memorial. I didn't know he had two wives in addition to Margarethe Ruedi, however I do have him marrying Christina Borth in 1917. Margarethe's maiden name is spelled several ways; I use Ruedi and I've seen it also spelled Riede, as well as Reudi. Margarethe's first husband was Phillip Hartwig who died in 1915 in North Dakota.
|Jackie Winn Ross||Audrey Sayler|
I almost made the mistake of putting the picture for Andreas in the spot for AUdrey Sayler, as when taking the picture I thought it was Audrey. So I agree with you...I think it is an error. Please Brian, don't bother going back to Underwood, as I have been there twice and if I didn't find them, and you didn't, I think that there are probably no stones. I did find a picture that I can now put on for a findagrave. that says no stone. It is quite nice and is an alternative for those with no stone and yet family is requesting one.
|Jackie Winn Ross||Knudtson's and other Underwood requests|
Thanks Brian for taking the pictures at the Underwood cemetery. I know it took lots of time to locate my requests and I truly appreciate that you did it. Jackie
|Michael J. Petrie||thanks|
Thanks for the Stebbins photo. Would you also add it to Memorial 182969721 ?
