Bio

I adopted photography as a hobby at age 13 and have been pursuing it ever since. I have travelled in thirty-five or so nations and keep adding to the list. On my travels, I usually make it a practice to visit famous cemeteries and photograph them if time allows. Pere Lachaise (Paris), Recoleta (Buenos Aires), and Highgate (London) are particular favorites. I am an academic by earlier training, a lawyer by profession, and an occasional writer by avocation. Education: Ph.D., Tulane University (Political Science; Graduate School Fellow); J.D., University of Tennessee College of Law; member, Tennessee Law Review. Interests: photography, philosophy (esp. Plato, Hegel, Marx, Cicero, and M. Aurelius), cinema, politics, ancient history, amateur archaeology, travel, music (Bach fugues, pipe organ generally, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, jazz, swing, New Orleans R&B/funk, Cajun, grand opera, Woody Guthrie, and Gilbert & Sullivan--I am among the most dedicated of Savoyards), literature, reading and, from time to time, scribbling. Favorite cities: Paris (the city of my eternal dream), endlessly charming Vienna, Venice, New Orleans, Istanbul, Rome, Prague, Buenos Aires, Marrakech, Fez, Toronto, San Francisco. Oh, almost forgot Varanasi. Favorite nations for travel: Italy, Turkey, France.
