Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am researching my own family as well as documenting cemeteries. I feel it is important to photograph stones before they are forever lost to time.

Please do not take offense if I add a different photo to a memorial page. Maybe the photo I took gives a different perspective due to time of year, lighting, etc. Of course, I welcome any additional photos and/or editions to memorials I have created.

Photo Use: If I took the gravestone photo, feel free to use it. Please do not use personal family photos without my permission.
Edits: Use the Edit button on the memorial page for additions/corrections. Do not use personal email for edits unless absolutely necessary.

Linda Hogan

P.S. I just want to give a special thank you to all the people who volunteer to take photo requests. Many times it is impossible to see a grave in person and your photo is the next best thing. Many thanks for your time. Paying it forward!

RE: Mary Weaver Buchanan
Thanks for the kind words. I assume you saw the memorial I created with photo for Laura Estella Buchanan, daughter of John and Mary Buchanan. I am sorry to report that there is no record of a Jane Weaver at Oak Spring. Sharon and I looked for any Jane Weavers at Oak Spring, and there were none. Also looked for other Weavers with dod in 1940 and nothing. You've got a deal on the lunch!

Take care,

The Philip I am looking for was born about 1763, and so would have died certainly no later than 1850 or so (This Philip was the husband of Catharine Perkins Ford). I think the Philip you gave me the record for died in 1892, or thereabouts? Too young to be Catharine's husband :-) I'll see if I can find a date for him, though - Thanks, Kimberly!

RE: Pyle
Thanks, Kimberly! Grew up in Chester County, PA, and had family very close to the "arc" (My dad's mom grew up in Landenberg, PA, just a stone's throw from Hockessin, DE), but have been away for a long time.

If I can think of anything, I will let you know. I have a bunch of people in Riverview, but I was there about 5 years ago and photographed what I needed. Also have a lot of photos from Mount Salem ---- but I did fail to find (in the Spring of 2016) a stone for Lewis Dowland (full name Lewis Martin Van Buren Dowland), which might be spelled Dolan or Doland. He and his wife are allegedly buried at Mount Salem. If you could ever stumble across them (and Margaret Perkins Ford's husband, Philip...but I have no idea when he died or where he is buried - probably not even at Newark Union), and photograph, that would be awesome :-)

Likewise - if you ever need anything looked for and photographed in the Albany, NY area (~75-100 mile radius), I am your man!

Thanks again, Kimberly!

Dear Kimberly -

Many thanks for posting the photo of the gravestone of Catharine Perkins Ford (Newark Union Cemetery)! She is one of my 6-times great grandparents.

Thanks Kimberly. It looks good. We're not as concerned as others about obits on memorials--glad to have them.
Very interesting and moving story on him! We don't think often enough about the survivors and what they go through when a veteran is lost.

RE: James McCahon

Very nice tribute on "Find A Grave" to Cpl. McCahon, thank you for posting the photos and letting me know they were there. I'll pass the link on to the rest of the 9th PA; many were at the re-dedication.

RE: Holy Cross-Pvt. Morris Mason Farrar
Generally the VFW members place American flags by each veterans monument. I usually carry a handful. I'll make sure there is one for the Pvt.

RE: Your family
Commissioning the memorial was my finest moment. I imagine you felt the same. Later I was able to get photos of two of the boys. They are framed and hanging on my LR family portrait gallery. As long as we remember them, they are alive. They were hidden since 1915. Makes it all worth while. If you go to Fernwood look at George Roch. And thank you.

Samuel Hunzeker

I located your memorial to Samuel Hunzeker while working on the one Bev did on him as well. It took me a bit of digging due to the spelling Bev had, the original was Saul F. Hunzenker. I have no idea where she got it from. However after finding the Pennsylvania Civil War info on him I started cleaning up some of the rough edges. However that's when I found yours. Bev did hers in 2006 # 13338984 (Wrong spelling of name but same date of death as your entry) and you entered yours on 2015 # 154538727. Bev passed away and the Sons of Union Veterans have taken over her memorials involving Civil War Veterans. I have changed the spelling and added additional information on Bevs and thanks to you linked his wife. Please review Bev's old entry now corrected and advised how you would like to handle this.
Thank you
