Bio and Links
Bio Photo Click on the tomb for more info. I've been seriously interested in family genealogy for a long time. If I've added memorials to non-family members it's because I was there and had a camera while looking for my family (I'm a grave walker). Some markers catch my eye and I must photograph them. I try hard to capture the Veterans when I find them...because they deserve it. I'm not interested in building an empire of memorials for the sheer sake of numbers so I'm more lax over turning them over to family than Find A Grave's rules. I also don't create memorials for living people for reasons I believe are obvious. If a relative is closer to you than me I have no problem turning them over. If they are at all relation to you and not me then just ask, tell me your relation and they are yours. Just try to be polite, it'll take you farther. Especially if someone fulfills your photo request. I try not to add recent deaths too quickly, doesn't allow friends to post their friends memorials (I don't look at the Obits each morning first). I'd like to thank the volunteers who have brought me photos from far away, you are wonderful. You may use these photos for any non-profit reasons (Ancestry.com, findagrave spouses, etc)
I've been happily married for 42 years to a wonderful woman who keeps me in check. (I need to be kept in check.) I'm an NRA Endowment Life Member, PADI SCUBA Divemaster, Extra Class HAM radio operator and 4th dan Judo black belt. I wish I could fly, parachute, play an instrument and dance but I can't...or haven't yet. I also make a mean breakfast!

Glen Doherty memorial #97014892
Hi,
I see that you have sponsored memorial #97014892 for Glen Doherty. Unfortunately, he is incorrectly listed as buried at Arlington National Cemetery. I have met with Arlington admins and Glen Doherty is not buried at Arlington and is not scheduled to be buried there.

We have received photo requests for his burial location at Arlington, but, obviously, we cannot fulfill those requests, as he's not at Arlington. For the last few years, some of us have sent SACs to the creator of the memorial, but she is either ignoring the SACs or refusing to change his burial location. I even referred her to the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation, to see if they could tell her where he is buried, but she still hasn't changed it. Perhaps you could try to get through to her? I have sent an email to the fg admins, but no luck yet...

Thank you!

Stiles Family
Mark, I want to thank you for the work you've done for the Stiles (Clarence) Family at the Thompson Cemetery. I'm related to them through my Mom. I've been a genealogist off and on for 40 years.

Sincerely,

John Doran/Apple Valley, CA

RE: Dorothy Van #63660915
I'm stumped. I can't find any Dorothy Van obituaries or death notices or Social Security Death Index entries from 2002.

I can't find the name Van Berryl or any variation of it in birth announcements from the 1920s, or from the census entries for 1930 and 1940. I can't find any obits or death notices for Jim Evering in 2000, or a Social Security Death Index entry.

I can find references to Dorothy Van and Jim Evering in newspapers from the 1970s and 1980s, typically from their live comedy show, which they performed in California and Arizona.

I have no idea how to proceed on this one. I must have had a source or sources for the Find A Grave entry I created, because I didn't make up the dates or burial location out of whole cloth. But whatever reason, I can't find any of those sources now.

Suggestions?

ALLEN C WELLER
Hey Mark!
Had another question for you. How do I add info for VIOLET WELLER'S husband Allen C. Weller? He doesn't have a Findagrave # yet.

VIOLET WELLER
Hey Mark!
Thanks so much for providing the photo of Violet Weller. Would you happen to be related to Shelley Orey? We were in the same class (1973) at UTHS.

RE: Stelk family in Riverside
Okay. I was doing a bit of research and found it listed under both on familysearch. I also found a duplicate entry here on FindAGrave listed as Stelg. I sent an edit to them that it's a duplicate and misspelled.

RE: Dorothy Van #63660915
I'm not sure what's going on here. I must have had a source, like an obituary or something like that, but whatever it was I can't find it online now.

More annoying for me, is I can't find the use of the name Vanberryl, Van Berryl, or any variation ever being used in Moline, so I'm having a tough time trying to track Dorothy Van's family. Ditto Jim Evering, about whom I've found little online except for his TV credits.

Let me look into this some more tomorrow and see if I can figure it out.

Nellie May Moody Vermeire
Her maiden name was actually Alldridge - her stepfather's name was John Forrest Moody. (Well, kind of. His name was actually Forrest Henry Shute, but he was going by Moody by the time he married her mother Helen Gertrude (White) Alldridge...
