RE: Black Elk
Hi David. Thank you for leaving flowers on my parents' and grandparents' graves. How nice of you. Best.

I haven't been on Find A Grave in a long while. Thought I'd put a flower on some of your kinfolk. Then I noticed that you did not have a birth year or birth place on your grand dad. So, I looked on Ancestry and found him and Elsie on a family tree owned by "John Jervis". Do you have access to Ancesstry?

RE: Black Elk - New Book
Thank you for getting in touch. I bought the book and have yet to start it but it certainly looks like a good read. I, too, have a lovely photo of Black Elk taken around 1947 on the rez and he is holding a pipe. It hangs in my bedroom and is 16" x 20". The Smithsonian Institution has the negative of the photo and I bought the photo many years ago and also a photo of He Dog at the age of 96. A friend in Nebraska has visited Black Elk's grave twice taking a token from me to the grave. I am happy you have a photo of the grave. I had wanted to visit it in person but I doubt if I can do that now. Some years ago I was in touch with Hilda Neihardt, John Neihardt's daughter. She wrote 2 books you might enjoy - "Black Elk Flaming Rainbow" and "Black Elk Lives - Conversations with the Black Elk Family." I agree with you, Black Elk should be a household name. Hilda died some years ago.

Black Elk - New Book
Hi David, there is a new book out about Black Elk which was released October 25, 2016 in the States. The book is titled "Black Elk: The Life of an American Visionary" by Joe Jackson and runs 624 pages. A friend has highly recommended the book and I have ordered a copy from Amazon. FYI I checked Amazon AU and it only has the Kindle edition at A$16.49 as of today (19-2-17). Cheers, Sheila

RE: Hi purple Lady
Hello David, it has been a long long time. I finally had a day for myself that I was able to do a little fowering, after 5 months. You know the old adage [everything happens in 3's] - I guess it changed for me that [everything happens in 4's]. I kept saying "this too shall pass" and it did.

Been going to Eye Doctor most all of April & oh, how tiresome.

Take care my friend & hoping this message finds you doing fantastic. Probably won't be flowering much, maybe once a week, if lucky.

Thanks so much for your message of March 26th [made me smile for your concern].
Bye for now, Ruth

I can't take credit for the poems, I got them from another graver. I asked for permission because I liked them so much. Merry Christmas

Hi David,

I prepared a memorial for the above, not realising that you had prepared one for him but just using his middle name. You'll be pleased to know that he now has a spanking new headstone to mark his grave.

Regards, Tim
