|Will Ghent||RE: Matt|
I will call. Thanks
I don't know why people called him Matt. Granny, Jerry-Lynne and my mother always called him Marshall. Everyone else called him Matt. They wrote Matt Tillman in his school year-book. I guess it is the same reason, folks called Gene, Buck...
I can remember, an aunt, named Eunice and an uncle named Junior. He was really nice. I remember him telling me that his wife left him because he cheated on her. I thought he meant cheating like cheating at a game of Monopoly. I was just a little kid. We visited a tobacco farm in Florida once. That's were I met Eunice and Junior...

I know a lot about Grannyís family (the Wilsons) because I was raised among them in Indian Land. I donít know anything about Grandpaís family. He never talked about them. He wouldnít talk about his military service. Granny told us not to ask him about that. I think, that I read that Grandpa was raised in Columbia, S.C., but Granny said he was from the state line between GA and FL. I remember going to visit my dadís family in FL back in the early 1970s, but I cannot remember the name of the town. (It wasnít a town. It was in the country, really.)
After my dadís death, I learned that he had a girlfriend (common-law wife) named Joy who lived in GA. I donít know if she is still alive. My parents had a nasty, cruel divorce. After which, my sisters and I were adopted by my stepfather (Remember, children had no say in their lives in the 70s and 80s.) Anyway, following that divorce, we were not allowed to ask questions. We were not allowed to attend my dadís funeral. He left a note for us, his children. Granny decided not to give it to us. I donít know why. I suppose, that we are meant to accept her good judgment.
Grandpaís family isnít linked to his memorial on findagrave I asked Buckís wife, Shirley, for the names of Grandpaís parents, but she did not know. Buck is sick, so I did not want to bother himÖ
Was Grandpa related to Ben Tillman, former Governor of S.C.?

Oh, I see what you meant. I am Matt's son. I was adopted after he passed away. I thought that you were saying that you were Leonard and Nancy's daughter.

|Linda Davis||RE: Lloyd Popwell|
I guess being Lloyd was from Glynn Co, he can't be put in St. Johns.
I doubt it as St Johns Co is in FL and Glynn CO, is in GA!!
|Linda Davis||RE: Monument|
I don't know a thing about it.
Sorry. The Nassau Co (FL) War Memorial has a memorial on Find A Grave for each KIA military....and I made most of them.
I don't know the location of the St Johns Co Vietnam War marker but got the names and saw that each of them got a memorial on Find A Grave too.
That's all I know about military monuments.
