Bio and Links
I am a North Londoner of Irish Protestant and Anglo-Indian (or, to be more accurate, Hiberno-Caledonian-Anglo-Dutch-Huguenot-Indian) parentage. I was trained as a mathematician but, at the moment, am working only part-time. I have travelled a lot; not only around the British Isles, but also throughout: Europe; Africa; America (North only; I have yet to cross the Rio Grande, never mind the Panama Canal, although I have been to the States quite a few times and once ventured to Fidel's island for three weeks and, a decade later, across the Forty-Ninth Parallel for a month, and should like to go back to Cuba and Canada again, sometime); Asia; and Australia. Unfortunately, most of those voyages were undertaken before the invention of the digital camera, so I can't show you too many of the graves I saw when I was abroad. When I am not travelling or working, or painting or acting, I am learning to play the piano and various woodwind instruments. I try to keep my body fit with cycling and swimming and karate, as well as by never drinking alcohol or coffee, or smoking, or eating flesh, or fowl, or fish, and I try to keep my mind fit with chess and crosswords and reading.

Please note; I am forever running around this world (as Jefferson Airplane once sang), and seldom check the computer when I am on my wanderings; but, if you write to me, I shall make sure that I answer on my return. Similarly, I am always happy to change my submissions if you notice that anything is missing, but it is better to inform me of this by a private message or an E-Mail, as the "Edits" tend to vanish after a month or so.

Thank you for Find A Grave Memorial# 156954276. I wondered if you had a shot of the text on the main 'book' structure; obviously the text for John is on the kerb. Perhaps it is on another menorial as relatives of John's. We might be able to get user wertypop to link it.

RE: Seven missing
Iain,

I merely photographed all of the Keene's in local cemeteries at someone's request and created the memorial in 2009. The only thing I posted was the information on the tombstone, including any inscriptions. The daes I transcribed match the dates on the tombstone. Memorial 125214750, Lizzie Kennedy (nee Schissler) that you referenced in your second message has quite a bit of informaton added by Find A Grave member #48209876 whose bio indicates that he is an avid genealogist, you may try contacting him for further information. Keene is a very common surname in this area and it was settled in the late 1600's. For some reason my previous messages have been deleted so I can not send you the two individuals who requested the photos. Respectfully, I believe you have the wrong memorial.

Given that Norman Negretti's dates are 1897-1917, he would have been 20 when he died and impossible to be the father of 38979567, his daughter most likely would have been born about 1916-1918. I have looked at local records here and found no Negretti, Maryland is quite large and if you can narrow down the town or county she lived in I will try to assist you with links to find her.

RE: Francis Walter Davies
I always love when the pieces fall into place to link individuals with their families.

Thank you for your kind offer. My European ancestors date back to the early 1800's... a little further than I'm interested in at this time when some more recent ones remain a mystery to me.

How I got his name?
#1 Off his grave marker
https://www.netley-military-cemetery.co.uk/burials-with-medals-and-awards/m-z/

#2 someone posted a photo on his page which matched my info

#3 http://www.angloboerwar.com/index.php?option=com_grid&gid=22_uw_0&p=33

He may have had also his mothers maiden name included as his given name, but shortened it

Thanks,
Donna

RE: The Durrells
G'day Iain: Thanks for pics and updates. Greatly appreciate your work! I love find a grave for the very reason working together makes better memorials for all to enjoy and reference! Bowie was a shocker like sooo many others these past couple of years.. Happy Trails. Trust I got your edits corrected properly.

I am wondering if you could remove a couple of the graveyard photos for this person, as I have a cenotaph photo and a stained glass photo in his honour in the Banff Anglican Church that would be nice to add.

Too cheap to pay for more photos for this memorial!

RE: Warrant Officer Fulbrook
Hi Iain,

Sounds like you have a wonderful summer planned. Unless a medical miracle happens I shall be staying close to home. That is OK though as there are 3 large cemeteries in town that I have not paid much attention to in the past so that will be my goal.

Take care and keep up your good work
