I have been doing genealogy for over twenty-five years.
My Maryland surnames from my father's side include Simpson, Hungerford, Johnson, Duvall, Ricaud, Burgess, Evely, & Beverly. From my mother's side are the Virginia, Tennessee, & Kentucky surnames of Hobbs, Kaylor, Fleenor, Phipps, Depew, Rhea, Jones, Sheets, Vaught, Sage, & Anderson.

After joining Find A Grave, I have been challenged to get the very oldest tombstones in a cemetery photographed, while they are still readable, and add them. I especially love finding the obscure--the ones that others only dare to look for. Whenever we travel, we look for cemeteries and photo requests and try to fill them. My husband brushes the stone and I take the photo. It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get exercise, and learn the history of this great nation. The stories are often told on the tombstones....including the incredible faith in God and our Redeemer Jesus.

I am happy to make any corrections and/or additions, and also will transfer memorials of those that are no relation to me. If I have added any memorials of your family member and you do not wish it to be posted on this site, I will be glad to take it down. Also, please ask permission to use any family or tombstone photos, and after getting the permission, please give me credit for the photo. Thank you.

I do not want memorials which I have created to have 4-5 tombstone photos. If your photo is better, I'll take mine down; my desire is to create memorials that share photos of the person or their family.

I have met many friends on this site, have heard from people who were so grateful to find their relative when even the cemetery office said they had no record! (Yes, it happens!) I have cried at some of notes I have received like taking their 90-yr. old father to see the memorial after I posted a photo of it, and they could find it in the cemetery. I have found tombstones that others said did not exist, and I have met people who did not know where their loved one was, but I had seen them and photographed them and knew where they were. In other words, I believe God is guiding me and helping me to bless others who are interested in their ancestry. What a great country we live in--people from all walks of life settled here! I have learned so much about the history of our country and love the search!
