|"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren".|
"The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.
I will gladly transfer within the guidelines and am more than happy to make corrections and additions to those memorials which fall outside of the guidelines. If memorials I've transferred are stripped of the obit or photos, I won't transfer anymore to that person. I do not transfer "all" of any name. Please use virtual cemeteries for the purpose of collecting "all" your relatives.
Please use the edit key for transfers and
changes or corrections.
Photos I take may be used, no need to ask permission, but please give me credit, as FAG photo takers are volunteers who provide their own gas and time to go take photos. Please put "Headstone photo taken by FAG Volunteer, Kathy #47737776" in the description box. Thank you, in advance.
I include the newspaper or funeral home when mentioned for future relatives who are trying to build their family trees. Even though other FAG members feel it is an easy way to "beat me" to the obituary. Shame on you. If you don't have the time to enter more than the date born and the date they died, maybe you need a new hobby. Every persons life should be remembered for more than just a couple dates.
A name with "unk" "unk" for the dates is no memorial at all. My purpose is a full and complete memorial.
So often I see-"my photos are not to be used on paid sites like ancestry.com". FAG is owned by Ancestry.com and has been for several years now. This is what FAG says--Find A Grave is owned and supported by Ancestry. Our Terms of Service state that when you upload content to Find A Grave, you grant Find A Grave and its group companies the right to reuse that content on other sites in the group, including ancestry.com. Ancestry users may include information found on Find A Grave in their trees on Ancestry sites and Ancestry may show information and images from Find A Grave in their search or other areas of the site. This expands the reach of the information collected on Find A Grave and helps other members of the Ancestry Community who are researching their ancestors.
And as for duplicates--"Because so many people add data to Find A Grave, there are often duplicate cemeteries and duplicate memorials added. This is a very common situation and is quite difficult to resolve in a way that keeps everyone happy. Before adding a memorial, search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who has recently passed or who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person. If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial". To me this means, send an edit, do not just make a duplicate. FAG has enough unintentional duplicates! When a woman has been married more than once--I use the name in the obituary, if a headstone isn't available from a previous marriage with her name on it. I don't "presume" she'll be buried with the first husband, as maybe the 2nd or 3rd marriage is who she preferred to be buried next to. I don't have ESP to know this.

Thanks, Kathy, for letting me know. I wish I knew how that happens. I appreciate you telling me so I could correct it. Take care!

I added the obit. Thanks.
|Rhonda Hansch||Arthur Skeel|
Hi Kathy, thank you for posting the bio on Arthur Skeel. You offered to post his obituary too if I had one. I don't have an actual obituary but there was an article about his death. I've sent that to you under the Suggest and Edit feature for his memorial. However you may want to summarize? Thanks again for the offer. Rhonda

I received an edit from X and he wanted me to add Fred C Jones and Fannie J Jones as her parents. This I could've accepted but he also wanted me to remove Frank Barncord as her husband and make it "unknown". When I checked her memorial it has a headstone with Frank and her and a marriage date of 6-25-24. I noticed you requested to maintain this memorial and I hope you can tell me if Fred & Fannie are her parents and why he wants Frank removed as her husband.
I cannot verify any of that. I manage the memorial because when my friend Bob died, per his request, all his memorials were transferred to me.
I have sent an obit for her son that lists mothers maiden name as Jones and that he was born in Wayneboro, PA, which is Franklin Co.
Hope this helps.

I go by Alden Cemetery every work day on my way to and from work and stop often to check to see if any new stones have been placed there.
|Diane F||RE: Kenton Hodges|
Thanks, I'll keep looking.

|Love My Ancestors||Gerald Hannum #157344801|
Kathy, we were wondering if you are related to Gerald. He is my father in law's half brother Donald Hannum. He wasn't mentioned in the obit though, neither was his half sister Thelma. Do you know anything on the Hannum line through Don and Margaret?

Would you please provide, if you're able, the name of the newspaper or funeral home which published the death notice and the date of publication.
