"Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren".

"The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.

I will gladly transfer within the guidelines and am more than happy to make corrections and additions to those memorials which fall outside of the guidelines. If memorials I've transferred are stripped of the obit or photos, I won't transfer anymore to that person. I do not transfer "all" of any name. Please use virtual cemeteries for the purpose of collecting "all" your relatives.
Please use the edit key for transfers and
changes or corrections.

Photos I take may be used, no need to ask permission, but please give me credit, as FAG photo takers are volunteers who provide their own gas and time to go take photos. Please put "Headstone photo taken by FAG Volunteer, Kathy #47737776" in the description box. Thank you, in advance.

I include the newspaper or funeral home when mentioned for future relatives who are trying to build their family trees. Even though other FAG members feel it is an easy way to "beat me" to the obituary. Shame on you. If you don't have the time to enter more than the date born and the date they died, maybe you need a new hobby. Every persons life should be remembered for more than just a couple dates.
A name with "unk" "unk" for the dates is no memorial at all. My purpose is a full and complete memorial.
So often I see-"my photos are not to be used on paid sites like". FAG is owned by and has been for several years now. This is what FAG says--Find A Grave is owned and supported by Ancestry. Our Terms of Service state that when you upload content to Find A Grave, you grant Find A Grave and its group companies the right to reuse that content on other sites in the group, including Ancestry users may include information found on Find A Grave in their trees on Ancestry sites and Ancestry may show information and images from Find A Grave in their search or other areas of the site. This expands the reach of the information collected on Find A Grave and helps other members of the Ancestry Community who are researching their ancestors.
And as for duplicates--"Because so many people add data to Find A Grave, there are often duplicate cemeteries and duplicate memorials added. This is a very common situation and is quite difficult to resolve in a way that keeps everyone happy. Before adding a memorial, search the cemetery to see if a record with that name has already been added. If you are adding a memorial for someone who has recently passed or who does not have a physical grave or memorial marker in a cemetery (perhaps their ashes were scattered), please do a general search on Find A Grave (do not enter a location) to see if a memorial has already been created for that person. If you find a memorial has been added but has incomplete or incorrect information, instead of creating a duplicate memorial use the tools provided to submit corrections, additions or a transfer request via the "Suggest A Correction" link under the 'Edit' tab on the upper right of the memorial. Never deliberately create a duplicate memorial". To me this means, send an edit, do not just make a duplicate. FAG has enough unintentional duplicates! When a woman has been married more than once--I use the name in the obituary, if a headstone isn't available from a previous marriage with her name on it. I don't "presume" she'll be buried with the first husband, as maybe the 2nd or 3rd marriage is who she preferred to be buried next to. I don't have ESP to know this.

Hi Kathy,

I am pretty sure that Ruth Merwin is buried in the Restlawn Cemetery in Wausau, WI with her husband George W. Merwin.

You have Leo in the wrong cemetery. He is in the Salem Cemetery. The Loran cemetery is across the street and has no new burials.

RE: Louis LeComte
I do not the burial location of his parents. That is why I wanted to link his brothers in his bio via hyperlink.

I find some of the procedures confusing. I think I understand it now. I have been going through the hoard of old pictures I have scanned to my computer and have added several and have more to go. I used to live near all the cemeteries my close ancestors are buried in but just recently I retired and moved out to Las Vegas. When I make a return visit I'll take my camera and rephotograph several and look for others I missed.

RE: Transfer of Memorials
I don't see how you or any of your colleagues can manage more than 31,000 memorials effectively. I now have 1,843 family members in my family tree and just recently found a treasure trove on that traces one of my lineages back 8 generations. If you have the time to work on my family tree then by all means hold on to them. I have taken days trying to trace even one of my great grandparents. I have made change requests to one of your colleagues and she hasn't responded after 2 weeks.

Transfer of Memorials
I have yet another transfer request. Please transfer my great grandfather's (mem #102399659) Henry Mentzer memorial to me. It would nearly complete my management of all my great grandparents.

RE: Mt. Repose
Thanks for doing the updates. I'm working on sending the edit requests for plot locations for Section 4. I hope to have those finished in a day or two. When those are processed, I will be finished. Yeah!

I like the map, too. I just wish it wasn't first on the cemetery page.

I don't have any contact information for the sexton of Mount Repose. My guess is that "Mother Pierron" is just an "oops" based on what you wrote on the bio. I would suggest removing the memorial, but it's up to you. If you decide to keep the memorial, I would remove the bio.

RE: Walter & Mabel Reed
Thank You very much. Now I have yet another transfer request. You also manage my other grandfather Alan Jewett Dufield's memorial #118418465. Please transfer him and my infant brother Randall #118418529 and also my step grandmother Lenore #118418378. I would appreciate it.

RE: Mt. Repose
I made a map of Mount Repose Cemetery today and submitted it to Find A Grave. They accepted it, and it now appears on the cemetery page. Thanks for suggesting it. I think it will help people find the markers they are looking for.

I've requested plot updates for the memorials in all of sections 1-7 and the southern edge except for section 4. I will do that after you have time to process the updates I've submitted for sections 1 & 2. I don't want to get too far ahead of the updates.

I'm still working on some odds and ends. I have some photos of some really old mostly illegible markers that I can't find memorials for. I will be creating memorials for them soon with the little information I can read on the markers.

I'm also waiting for Find A Grave to merge several memorials that are either duplicates or in the wrong cemetery. That should take 3-4 weeks.

Thanks again for all of your help!
